What is this brown grease spec/type in the tailgate, i would like to add more. Its making so much noise when i use it due to dust. I also dont want to just combine it with lithium because it feels wrong.

You're kinda over thinking it. Clean off as much of the old as you can and apply new WLG...

It’s brown, so it must not be lithium…I’m voting for peanut butter.

In all reality, though, you’re overthinking it. It’s a tailgate handle/latch, not a cam or crank bearing. There is no grease spec that’s going to make it run better or last longer. Use whatever is handy and go on down the road. They probably do use lithium from the factory though…it doesn’t gum up as bad as some of the others with all the dust and moisture it will be exposed to.

I wouldn't use a petroleum based grease due to the plastic clips. It is common for white lith to turn tan. Just squeeze a little out of the tube and it will literally change colors slightly in an hour or two.
