Yikes! Glad you’re feeling better. I took a cooler and figured those freezer ice pack things would keep everything cool. By the time I took some sausages out sunday night, they were cold, but not cold cold. But I put them back in the fridge anyway. Next morning I opened them up but I wasnt sure about the smell. Glad I decided to toss them!

And working with gloves off??? Ugh.

I don’t think it was something I got from you considering we were hanging outside in the fresh air. I’m sure it was just my own poor choices

Or better yet, a standby home generator. If you aren't so far away, I would say that I know a guy who knows how to install those things.;)

Those are handy, but my portable one is a mere $100!

I'll try to remember this when I want to upgrade. That's if I have any money left because of the thread.

I think you forgot a zero there.

Yeah, I think the whole home standby setups are probably over 10 grand for even the simplest installation now. But, there's something pretty nice about knowing that, if the power goes out, it'll be back on in 10 seconds.

That's one way of doing it. Nothing wrong with that. But, with the standby setups we install, when the power goes out it is back on in 10 seconds. And, your entire house is fully functional.

Definitely, let me know! My brother is a Generac dealer. His company has been doing a handful of generator installs. I did a whole bunch of them when I was at my last company. It's one of my favorite products I have installed , as far as the overall convenience of them.

1k is for my new one. While I like having the old one as a spare, my wife thinks it's stupid to have 2 and told me in no uncertain terms I have to sell it. I'd think I could find someone that could use a barely used, 3500 watt, non-inverter generator for $100.

Especially if a guy didn't even have to pick it up!

You're correct. They run good on LP, but you don't want to have a power outage when your tank is low.

Oh, I think I see where you're going with this. Hmmm.. That offer is more than fair in my opinion.

Think about it, bringing it back to Madison would be such a pain, and probably cost more than that in gas!

Well, when you put it that way, it almost seems irresponsible not to buy it. :D

The upside of living so close to the power plant is if mine and @BookieBob lose power it's up pretty quick because it's either something big or at least the trucks are close by.
Downside is I'm probably going to get the cancers from coal dust fines.

I have on one occasion used the inverter in the Tacoma to run my fridge during a rare extended outage.

We are at the end of the line for power. Luckily the longest we've been with out power is 4 hours.
I have 5500w gen. that I can plug into the house. The service panel has a built-in transfer switch. I can pick and choose what I want to run, being careful about what uses what.

More snow teasers. My deck. Yesterday I was standing on the wood in front of the grill... Took over a foot off the solar panels in the background this afternoon
