Just bought a 2013 tacoma. Other than the Guage cluster I have no dash lights, no heater control, 4×4 switch etc.

I'm assuming you moved the Rheostat to try to adjust it, have you verified it's plugged in?
    Is the radio stock?

Do your Tail lights work? If they do go to the Rheostat, if they don't check the Tail Fuse.

Pop the Rheostat out and see if it's plugged in, if it is you need to check for power on Pin 1 (Light Green) and Pin 4 (Green) with the Ignition and Tail Lights on and check for ground on Pin 5 (White/Black).

Most likely the Rheostat has failed but powers and ground should be verified before condemning it.
They rarely fail on their own, are there any interior modifications that you know of (aftermarket switches, wiring, etc)?

No mods as far as I know. I'll check the Rheostat

I posted the diagram for the illumination circuit in my post above.
With the key on he Rheostat receives Power on Pin 1 (Light Green), when the lights are turned on it receives Power on Pin 4 (Green). It receives Ground on Pin 5 (White/Black).
It controls the Combination Meter (Instrument Cluster) lighting on Pin 3 (White), it controls all the other backlights by varying the Ground on Pin 6 (Green/White).

I can’t be the only one who’s hearing the term rheostat for the first time, or am I? :crapstorm:

Best of luck OP, out of my depth on this one.

I try to identify stuff by what the manufacturer calls it, in this case what they call it is essentially what the technical term for it is although many people would refer to it as a panel dimmer switch.

You’re right to do so, best to stick with the technical terms, I had to look it up but I learned something as well:thumbsup:
