I like our chances this year… need a good power play scorer add before the deadline to improve our chances. Rangers always our biggest obstacle, have to solve that. We seem to have Boston’s number though.

Big beast Lucic scores for Flames -----up on Yotes. Surprised Conner not in for Phoenix. And no LA doesn't need their trash goalie in the net right now.

SOG differential huge yet tied at the moment. These games are crazy statistically at times.

I can't believe they won. They were getting outplayed so badly. Then I went to bed and Kane had just scored so they had 2 on the board. I didn't think much of it. Nice comeback then. I wonder if anyone gets Kane before the deadline. I still think he has a lot of game left. He would be a massive boost somewhere.

Pens are done lol. Can't beat a fast team, can't beat a division team either. Too many holes.

Good question. Did you ( and everyone else) think that was a good goal against Vegas at the last second of the 3rd ?? Me thinks Vegas lost SU and should give the point back or suffer the hockey gods wrath like da habs 93 stick bs call.

Some good games tonight. Bruins -Krakens 4-4 after 2, lots of lead changes, some great plays to put it in net.

Sully just keeps trotting out the same lineup. Instead of say, replacing O'Connor who is ineffective, with Heinen, or replacing Dumo with Friedman - or God forbid, call up Smith, it's the same guys getting beat. I know many Pens fans don't like to hear it, but they need to be sellers in the next week, trying to somehow rebuild and salvage something for the last few years of Crosby, Malkin and Letang's time together. Nobody like to admit when their team is over the hill, but it happens eventually to just about all of them.

I only saw a headline with a freezeframe about that. I didn't see the actual live play (I fell asleep.) I'll have to look now, I am interested.

I agree. The roster has sort of proven to be ineffective, as the season has gone on, so I know Sulli's hands are somewhat tied. But at the same time, I agree with what you are saying about him. In general, Dumo has had a rough year but in general, I think he is a good player. Last night was brutal watching him get walked, but like Errey said, he can't be the guy we are mad at when he's the only 1 back, getting burnt on odd-man breaks. I know Letang was on the score-sheet but he was pressing too hard and caused a lot of that. I agree, I'd move a few pieces and see what can be done about re-tooling next year. We don't need a major blow-up but something needs done to not waste another year of the aging core.

Dumo's contract is up at the end of the year. It would be so foolish to resign him. see if a playoff contender is interested in him. The same with Zucker.

Ya I wouldn't re-sign him. So if you can move him then so be it. Zucker, honestly I would try to keep and sign, if it's possible. He actually has some grit that we desperately need. A lot of the goals he scores are goals that probably only he scores because of his willingness to grind it out in tough areas. Plus he hits and just does a lot of the small thing that this team lacks, being a pretty soft team. So I would love to see him stay if they are serious about making a run next year.

I hear your logic but consider: this is Zucker's first injury free year in awhile, He is 31, with some wear and tear, and currently making $5.5M. He's going to get at least that - if not more - and probably wants at least 3 years. Re-signing him could be another, "why the hell did we do that?" in a year or two.

Absolutely. I'm not sure he's worth risking another contract, for the reasons you gave. But it's just a bummer that this year he is finally everything we hoped he would be, and it's looking like it won't matter. But we need more guys who play that style of game. The Pens can't be the small, finesse, fast skill team anymore. We need to be more of a puck posession team, that plays smart and has a few guys that will play in the tough spots.

Pens waived Kappenan. So that is the first move.
