Airbags, yes, seatbelts? Nope. If you don't wear your seatbelt you can kill somebody else in the car that is wearing one because you become a missile in an accident.

    I agree with this 100%.

I think seatbelts should be a personal choice, just like I would not get into a car (as a driver or passenger) with someone else not wearing their seatbelt.

I don't mind there being a law for the seatbelts. The fine isn't exorbitant, so you still have a choice. There's just a consequence on that one. Anyone is still free to not wear one. Kind of like a speed limit. It's there, but plenty ignore it.

I'm just saying, in your example that a person not wearing a seatbelt can kill someone else in the car with a belt on, the person in the car with the belt on had the choice of not getting in the vehicle with said belt-less person as well.

I understand that. I just don't find a seatbelt to be overly intrusive. It doesn't cost me anything extra, doesn't impede my ability to drive, etc. It's not particularly onerous to follow it. It's not removing any particular freedom or barring access to transport for anyone by it's existence.

Likewise, I don't find a helmet to be intrusive either. It keeps me warm, keeps bugs off my face and doesn't make me go deaf from wind noise.

But, I still think helmets should be personal choice, and I want to stay consistent with that belief. Seems hypocritical to want to not have helmet laws while wanting to enforce seatbelt laws.

    Anyway, back to motorcycles.

I'm currently torn between trading my RZR for the CB500X or paying it off and buying the bike as well. Not sure I want to lose the 4 wheeler-esque use of the RZR. At the same time, I don't owe much on it, so I'd get the bike and a check if I trade it.

I'm ok with helmet laws as well. Mainly because the guys that have to clean up the mess that squids leave don't need to see more dead bodies. There's plenty of PTSD in first responders, and the suicide rates aren't encouraging.

Can't trust weather reports, especially lately I've noticed.

Forecase said nonstop rain from yesterday through Saturday, drive to work this morning was sunny and clear skies. But it was absolutely pissing down yesterday, so hard even my truck wipers at highest setting were barely doing the job, so I took the truck today because despite any rain gear I may have, I don't wanna get caught in that heavy of rain, fresh tires or not lol.

Let me know when you finally make it out!

As someone who's lived here their entire life, it ain't bad since it's all I primarily know. The biggest issue is the cost of living (assuming you want to live somewhere nice that isn't in the middle of the desert). The other laws are all workable to some extent, or in some cases (looking at you exhaust laws) negligible.

Should be fine. you might get a warning but if they see the car is registered elsewhere and your DL is out of state, They can't give you a ticket for it. Unless you're being a nuisance about it.

and if they do, just never come back. interstate extradition is of no concern :headbang:

RE Helmets...personal choice as well for me. That said, I never ride without one...exception being the short ride I take up and down my block after a chain lube lol. Even then I feel naked.

That said, I don't understand why you wouldn't want to wear one. A properly fitted one is comfortable, doesn't inhibit anything other than bugs and wind and maybe a little bit of sound. I won't even ride with my visor open past 20mph, never understand how people are cool with half-helmets and a pair of sunglasses. Do they just have all the luck to not get hit in the face with kicked up rocks/bugs? Hell I get shit in my eyes just sitting at stoplights with my visor open. Not something I ever wanna deal with at speed. Plus way too much to lose if you go down without a helmet, and likely exponentially worse damage.

Tough call. When it comes to stuff like this I'm normally in the "more toys = more fun" camp. Where I live a RZR wouldn't do me any good as I would have nowhere to use it unless I trailer it somewhere first. My question would be do you have somewhere to use it? Will it still see enough use to make it worth the added maintenance of having multiple "toys". For me, I use my bike as a main means of transportation. My truck gets far fewer miles per year than my bike does. I do however, own 3 bikes currently so something always needs used or serviced so you need to decide if it's worth it to you and additionally do you have sufficient storage to keep everything secured.

man what an asshole cop. and I say that as someone who is generally supportive of cops.

Idk how that guy always seems to get into these situations, must be because of his car specifically. a lot of cops in CA are dumb though. They will allow illegals to drive without a license or registration and won't punish them because we're a sanctuary state, but will ticket people for the dumbest stuff. Meanwhile, i've been riding dirty without my registration sticker the entire year because the DMV never sent it after multiple attempts, and never pulled over or even warned despite driving an offroad truck with clearly illegal mods and seemingly delinquent registration.

That said, I really wouldn't worry about it unless your car/bike is shitbox loud or you're an obnoxious teen who likes to rev at lights...neither of which I think you qualify for lol. Especially being from out of state, you're more likely to get more leniency than less, p sure that guy was just targeted because of his vehicle.

I live outside of town, so to utilize it I generally tow it, but it is plated and street legal. I've taken it to work in the summer before. Legal on Wyoming roads aside from interstates. I've not gotten to use it as much as I'd like in the last year, and I've been kinda disappointed with it's "offroad" abilities when riding with a friend who takes his 4 wheeler. It's not got much ground clearance and I was spoiled by the RS1 I had before it. Got rid of the RS1 to get the narrower trail unit so I can run the 50" trails with my buddy. Anyway, it's the only thing I have that is even remotely trailable, and I'm enough of a noob I don't think the bike will fully fulfill that role. I'm just struggling as I have gotten rid of toys and regretted it before.

Super excited to get my motorcycle jeans today. I can't believe I found a pair of 32x36 jeans with CE Level 2 hip and knee armor for $110. Going to be using it on the Navi for commuting.
