I once owned a Ridgeline (insert laugh here), and absolutely loved the two way opening tailgate and that hidden waterproof storage trunk under the bed.

 

I could find that really useful.

How about in-tailgate storage? New Colorado/Canyon have it. I see some austrailian solutions for $500+ which feels pretty steep.

A decent front grille. I just haven't seen one that I really like, even mine I'm not crazy about it. They're either too flashy or too boring, none are classic.

 

Thanks everyone, some good input and great humor. We’re stuck with some of the Toyota design oddities, such as factory bed storage and grills. I’m more focused in innovative items I can fabricate to make the truck more useful and correct some of the minor OEM omissions - grab handles and modular cabin storage are good examples. After building up a fair amount of 1996-present generation trucks for TW members I’ve grown a laundry list of what I think could be useful, but I’m super interested in what you all need as I venture into development.

 

Tundra master cylinder is a good option.

 

I do miss my 2nd gen bed storage. I’m looking into hidden storage options behind the bed panels.

 

Deaver can build a stock-height leaf pack with increased spring rate. The OEM overload leaf could conceptually also be replaced without lifting the truck. I may look into a better individual leaf replacement/stock height option. I’m working on a stock replacement strut top hat which will level the front end without using spacers. thank you

If you could wrap a 1st Gen around a 3rd Gen powertrain with minimal infotainment BS, that would be interesting. Factory restomod or somesuch.

 

yyou can get a propane tank mounted in that area.

 

This was the reason I was on the fence between the two trucks. Plus the storage is locking. This is so useful, but they need to add an option for a quad cab with a six foot bed.
