    SOLVED: Replaced battery

So I got my gas-sipping Honda Civic back on the road for daily driving, I let my 2017 SR sit for about week and a half. I hopped in the truck last night, she turned right over with no hard-starting issues, but the radio's clock showed 1pm, and it was 8pm. Whatcha guys think? Battery issue, just a glitch, rodent-chew somewhere in the wiring harness?

Hard to say, but my guess is a timing issue with this damn thing!

PS: have you reset it back to the correct time to see if it's repeatable?

No issues with it resetting back to 1pm after I set it to the correct time, so far.

Then I personally would sit on this one for bit given you are having zero other issues. Sometime electric shit glitches.

...Alright, this is reproducible, just happened again after 3 weeks without driving it. I wonder if it's a feature? If you let a Taco sit long enough with a less than optimal battery, is it designed it go into a power-saving mode and cut off active electronics, like the clock?

So if you let the truck sit for long periods of time, it won’t age and will actually pull a Benjamin Button.

Battery or poor/intermittent connection. There isn't really another explanation.

What Chew said ... if you keep cars long for them to get them "back on the road for daily driving" you get normal age issues.

Another option is the battery cables making an intermittent connection ... spotty break in power that are not enough to cause major system glitches but other less critical systems like the radio may be less tolerant. I once or twice had older battery cables develop corrosion inside, not too much right at the exposed part but sort of creeping from the exposed ends inward.

When your Taco is sitting for these long periods, is it in a garage? If so, I'm thinking the lack of GPS signal is preventing the clock sync/update.

Yesterday when I hopped in my truck to leave work, I noticed it took about a mile before the time came up. Before that it displayed --:-- When it came up it was right though.

I'm gonna clean the battery terminals and buy a new battery if the issue reoccurs, thanks, y'all.

Sincere statement ... new battery. Batteries try to run right up until that last necessary cell goes. Usually dies at the most inconvenient time.

My 2019 TRD Off Road has done the same thing twice lately! Battery is GREAT! No other symptoms. Got to be connected with not starting vehicle for a period of time. I drove it one time for 20 miles or so and it did not set itself. May be a menu selection that I have missed to sync it with phone/bluetooth.
Seems as if first time it did jump audio/music source also.

The BT connection to a phone is another method the clock gets set, GPS is another. I’ve many times glanced at the clock shortly after starting in the garage and it reads - -:- - ….usually within seconds of the radio recognizing and connecting to my phone the current time pops up. Otherwise, when I leave my garage with my phone not connected, the time pops up within a min. or so.
