Where are we at on the flooded vs. AGM battery debate? Battery in the taco seems to be cranking a little slow when it's been cold out, and after 5 years with the factory unit, it's probably about time for a new one. My understanding is that if you were comparing similar size batteries, AGM is going to have better starting power and vibration resistance, but might not do as well in constant cold conditions.

I'm comparing the standard flooded and AGM models from Interstate that Costco carries, and trying to figure out if the $80 premium for the AGM is worth it.

Use case: Lots of forest service roads, occasional wheeling to camping/fishing spots or just for fun, truck often sits for 5-10 days at a time. I have the OVTune cable (with super old software/tune), so can bump up the charging voltage if needed for the AGM.

I’ve been running an Odyssey AGM for 3 years now with no charging voltage mod. 130a alternator. No problems hot cold or otherwise.

That's because the shitty drivers here came from Cali.

Have been running an AGM in both the 1st gen taco and the camper Tundra for a few years now, never had an issue. Never knew cold weather was an issue either, not sure I agree with that one.
But both of those trucks charge at the proper voltage.

The Costco AGM battery I've had for a couple years has been great. The really cold mornings we had this winter didn't phase the battery in the slightest.

I thought that the hulk was a mutant, beast doesn't work in this context. I'm deducting 8 points from his stomper truck total.

someone stole my magic keyboard off my desk at work, which one of you was it? :luvya:

They wouldn't let me expense a new one so I'm using a personal keyboard. Everything I own goes in my backpack at the end of the day now. Of course then they bitch about how I don't have a personalized desk lmao

Last few years electric bills ran around $80.00 to $110.00 for the winter months.
    Last month was $235.38.
Might be cheaper to start drinking again so I'm not sitting home running the heat.

Went to Dew Tour at Copper over the weekend. Never again. I used to go every season when it was at Breck, but it's just not worth it anymore. The traffic is worse than it has ever been for the 15+ years I've lived here... seriously considering dropping the winter sports thing altogether and using the pass money for surf trips in the winter instead. Or just riding more at Monarch.

We got there around 9, main lot and far east lot were both full, so we had to park at a third lot... shuttle had a mile-long line, finally got up to the middle base and it was a complete zoo, spent the whole day waiting in lines (even for beer). I'm not new to the resorts being a total shit show, but it routinely pisses me off every single season anyway.

i stopped going to dew tour a couple years ago for this reason. Ive been big on the Eldora train lately. i live pretty far west Arvada and its a beautiful drive and under an hour and still feels like a small time resort
