If the ATF gets a gun from a crime and then has to look for the owner they will.
The ATF knows what distributor got the serial number of a gun, and if the 4473 was called in for approval they have the original owner, otherwise like in the case of CCW carrier the 4473 stays at the selling dealer and doesn't go to the atf (Unless multiple firearms are put on a single 4473 then it has to still go back to the atf for tracking). They aren't suppose to have a database but... they have going to gun shops and scanning in the paper 4473 and have changed the format of the form for OCR scanning by putting everything on the front side now that is important to them. If i have a bill of sale it's not like I'm going to contact the atf to try and register that person that bought it.. .. that's stupid. I'm just storing that away in the safe incase the atf comes knocking at my door looking for me because that firearm did something stupid. But I'm not putting address and phone number and drivers license on the bill of sale just a name. I don't have a duty other than that. Or some kid ends up with the pistol and the atf comes after me saying I sold it to a minor... The only people that lose their mind about a bill of sale are bad actors and I don't want to sell to those people. Cool if you aren't comfortable fine.. but FYI Gov Hobbs is trying to push through an executive order to prevent person to person sales so all sales have to go through a gun dealer and 4473's. like most states now. So if you are trying to get something i would do it sooner than later as that will never be repealed as we go more democrat thanks to idiot liberals moving here.

I do the same thing...check if 21 or over by showing me a DL, and sign a BoS to cover my ass. If you have an AZ CCW, awesome...still need the BoS signed.

If someone refuses either, then no sale!

The ATF could always subpoena a 4473 in a gun store, it's just an extra step for them that requires a warrant.

I usually don't screw around with bills of sale, but I also don't sell to people who are completely unknown to me.

Got an FDE set kicking around my spare parts bin, they're magpul MBUS sights from like... 2014.

Pretty sure they came off a Bushmaster ACR actually. What are you looking to nab them for? DM me.
