On the steering wheel control topic…I don’t recall there being an on/off control, so how would those controls randomly turn the radio on?

On mine, pressing MODE will turn on radio.....or possibly the last used source.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never used a single button on my steering wheel controls. But if Mode turns the radio on, then there ya go.

The mode on mine seems to have a hair-trigger....just the slightest bump activates stereo.

Same here...don't really use them. Cab is small enough to reach radio directly. Really wish cruise control buttons were on the wheel, rather than that goofy nubbin-stalk in it's misplaced location.

My 2011 stereo acted up a few times when it was colder like down in the teens. Turning on by itself and a few times the opposite, staying off when turned on. The steering wheel controls worked as far as I can remember

I always figured it was the power button acting wonky. Dealer wasn't helpful, they wanted to just replace the whole unit. I considered putting a aftermarket unit in but didn't really want to cut up the dash. Traded it in for other reasons a while after that

Barcelona Red's installation of a single DIN Sony MEX-N5300BT was completed February 16, and I've not experienced those power glitches since. FM reception sensitivity is 7db, and it puts 20 watts (55x4 max.) to the factory speakers, so I turned the volume down by half for ESPN Radio and 99.9 Coyote Country (Spokane, WA) (and more for a CD). Crutchfield's wiring service pre-wired the Crux harness with OEM connectors so it was truly plug and play (unlike PC equipment). I'm sold on Crutchfield for their Master Sheet that describes how to remove door panels, and other steps for a nearly painless installation, and their equipment selector, advisors, and lifetime (free) technical support. 20230216_094059[1].jpgAll the controls work, and the menus have a short learning curve, so I'm happy. $224.25 total cost including 6% Idaho sales tax. We'll see when it gets warmer about replacing the original 6x9 door speakers with Taco***** solid HDPE spacers and Infinity Reference (by Harman) speakers. HushMat insulation went in the front doors last summer, and in the rear doors when it warms up enough for the material (and me) to be more flexible during installation.

Mine did that until I found I was resting my hand in the crook of the steering wheel next to the MODE/ON/OFF button.
