A car just like this is what I drove my senior year of high school.




Heads would turn everywhere I drove it. Getting the ladies in for a ride was easy. And it was the Megan Fox of automobiles. Something was always broken and parts were impossible to find. One day my dad was driving it and the engine seized. He felt bad and paid to have it rebuilt, which took 9 months. Once it was running I sold the thing instantly. It looked great but sucked to own.

 

Oh, it’s “shit on old Fiats” day!

My grandfather was “gifted” an 850 hardtop when his BIL became legally blind and couldn’t drive it. Worst. Gift. Ever.

Gorgeous little thing that turned on rails…when you could find a functioning water pump or distributor. You could have a cooling system or functioning electrical system…but never both.

You also had to be 5’ 8” or shorter to drive. At 14 I was unable to drive it because my shins were longer than the distance from the wheel to the clutch. He ended up selling it to a friend of his at the Eagle’s lodge…who was 5’ 1”. He fit it great…and built custom one-off water pumps. Win-win for him.
