I finally got the CB mounted beneath the fuse panel lid but several things.

    1. I put a fuse tap in the accessories as I didn’t know where else to put it. The CB turns on, but now, the clock and the radio, don’t work.

    2. How can I get that trap door to close?

    check your fuses.

though i suspect it might also be a lack of a fuse.

There is an inline fuse that I did not check, but I did the fuse tap 7.5 AMPS on both but the radio failed to power up. When I removed the fuse tap and replaced the 7.5 AMP fuse, the radio and clock turned back on!

I checked the empty slots and none of those have power. Not sure where else to check? I tapped into accessories, is there a different place that I should put it?

fuse-taps need to be installed a certain way, but it's also possible the fusetap was bad as well

CB/Ham radios should/need to be ran to the battery.....

Why? I have no clue... But thats what I was told to do when I first started installing them.
Maybe I read the instructions once or twice and thats what it said to do....

This basically just reduces the chances of getting radio interference from any of the other wiring and/or electrical components on the wiring of the fuse or wiring path you patch into. Wiring direct to battery helps reduce the chances of interference. You can wire to a fuse for a CB or radio, you just have to be aware that you might get radio interference if you do so and have to trace that down and deal with it. It's easier to just wire it directly to the battery for "cleaner" power.
