I keep mine under my seat for that same reason.

 

Blacked out the interior 100% today. Used the blackout kit from ajt designs and painted everything else. Turned out really nice.

 

Installed a Miller Cat Shield, and used my portly belly to balance it while putting in the screws




installed an old man bed step as it didn't come with the truck

 

Now that's how you do it.

 

It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.

 

I'll pay you $25K to come to my house and do this to my taco.

Keep the lock internals of that hitch pin well lubricated even with the "weatherproof" cap.
I ended up having to cut mine off with a grinder after only one winter installed.

 

Same here.
Even with lubing it before winter, I had to cut it off in the spring. I now use one of these, it's not worth the headache of dealing with the garbage locking pins.

looks great! now you just have to pop that glovebox lock cylinder out and paint or powdercoat (that's what i did) it too...

 

I'm in this situation now, I have a body armor step thing in there. I put a lock hitch I got from Amazon and both keys I had broke in half. I haven't gotten a chance to do anything with it yet. I saw ppl said to use a ball joint removal and wedge it inbetween and hammer the lock until it breaks. lol

 

I just use a ⅝” bolt with matching heavy hex nut, lock & normal washers. Bit of Vaseline to fight rust. Thieves rarely have a 15/16” and 1-1/16” socket handy.

Structural bolt on my truck, high-strength stainless on my wife’s.

 

Boom!

 

It will work. Have faith and putting in some extra work ain't gonna kill ya.
