JD Fab UCA experiences?

Hey all. Just curious if anyone had any good or bad experiences with the JD Fabrication UCA’s. Looking to run the .75 caster. Currently not rubbing on the stock UCA’s so hoping that stays!

Not running the JDs but good reviews esp from those vendors selling them. Spc quality in recent yr or two hasnt been that good.

 

Yeah, I’ve noticed too. I wheel a lot so not looking to have to deal with uca’s breaking as often as spc’s have been. Just haven’t heard a ton of reviews from the people who do run jd fab unless its long travel.

 

I have SPCs and can attest that they are terrible. Both the bushings and ball joints had excessive play after only 6,000 miles. Exactly why I'm looking to switch to JD. Heard good things

 

Crazy to hear! I’m noticing lots of people with issues recently, I wonder if suddenly their quality changed? Or maybe the people that had no issues just drive pavement? I’m going to order the standard jd UCA’s probably tomorrow so i’ll post back once I get them in and install it.

 

You getting the .25" or .75" ?
I'm curious how many degrees of caster each size adds.

 

I think i’m gonna go .75” like they recommended since im not running their LCA relocation kit. REALLY hoping not to rub, i’m sitting on 33’s and no body mount rub (full stuff, full lock) on factory UCA’s. My understanding is the .25” caster would bring the tire back more than forwards

 

The .25 and the .75 both bring the tire back more than stock. The measurement is how far they moved the ball joint back from the stock location. I wish the arms were just barely shorter to add additional camber also. I have my lca cams in almost the same location as when I was on spc’s and camber is right at 0 to positive .1 degrees, I prefer running -.25 to -.5 camber and can’t quite get there without reducing caster.

 

Not that they were bad but I know @SUMOTNK ended up selling his as he wasn’t able to run them.

 

So would you think .25 or .75 would be better at keeping the tires off the body? Are you running JD Fab now?

 

I saw his post the other day, looks like he had issues with compatibility with an aftermarket spindle

 

Ok that’s what I thought but couldn’t recall.

 

I am currently running the .75 and have a cmc, flattened pinch weld, trimmed fenderliner and ended of the flare at the back of the fender. Running 16x8 et -20 with 285/75r16’s. I don’t rub but have done quite a bit to make it rub free. Wheel offset is the biggest cause of rubbing, a lesser offset helps, so would going to the .25 uca’s but you will get less caster so it’s a trade off.

That was due to the aftermarket spindles that I am using. Wasnt due to anything with the JD arms

 

I’m 0 offset currenly, just had to trim the fender liner a bit and only occasionally tap the Body Mount, so offset luckily isn’t too bad of an issue for me at the moment. I’ll probably reach out to JD on their thread and see which one they’d suggest. Have you been satisfied with them otherwise? Thanks for the response!

 

Right from their site, if your running stock lowers, run the .75
UPPER ARM OPTIONS- We now offer 4 different upper arm options depending on your budget and application. To start we have 0.25" adjusted caster as well as 0.75". The 0.25" is ideal when running our lower control arm relocation kit because the added caster is gained by moving the lower control arm forward. If you are running the the stock lower control arm geometry then the 0.75" arms are better suited as they will provide the added caster needed when lifting the truck. In addition to the different caster options we now have sealed inner pivot uniball options for both arms. The uniball options are ideal for hardcore off-road applications.

 

Yup read that. Just saw a few postings from people saying the rubbed less on .25 but not really sure the validity of it ‍♂️ About to order the .75’s today anyways.

 

Looking forward for updates. I've been looking at them for a while now. Try to get a better castor.
