    You do you.
I’ll do what works for me.

I built aircraft engines for GE for a while. I’ve rebuilt a few auto engines. It’s not about what the lab states, I’ve dealt with oil analysis for over 37 years. It’s about changing the filter and the oil to remove the particles from the engine break in.

More important than the brand of oil you put in the truck is making sure that the oil you are using meets the manufacturer's specs, particularly if you're under warranty.

I changed mine at 1K & 5K miles, and will change every 5K from here on out.

I've sent my tundra oil out to them years ago doing 15k mile once a year oil changes after I had 100k miles on the truck only using mobil1 5w 30. When the odo reached 200k I sent them another sample using the same oil at the same oil change intervals. The data sheets I got back were nearly identical. That truck is still running fine today with another owner with over 300k miles. This bs about changing oil at 1k, and 5k is like going back 50 years when your grandpa did it.

I started using 5w30 mobil 1 on my last oil change. Been a few months since.....the 3.5 wasn't happy with it when it got to be -15 degrees. I'm going back to the 0w-20 when these 10k miles are up.

I call it cheap insurance. The 1K change may be overkill, but since every motorcycle I've owned has had a required break in oil change at 500-600 miles, I thought it might be a good Idea.

But, as with anything else, you do what works for you.

Yep, I do a new motorcycle after one good day of riding so between 200 and 400 miles. Motorcycles around Casa del Irons last a long long time.

These engines built today run without any of the breakin bs you needed to do 50 years ago. I never did any of that stuff on my 4.7 2001 tundra yet it's still running perfect over 20 years later. Some of these guys think they're going to get over 20 years if they change their oil every 1k miles. Got news there might not be gas available by then either. Imo, the rest of the truck can be worn out in 20 years as most of my tundra was. Comes down to the cost of all the other new parts its going to need when they get that old whether your going to keep it for another 20.

I'll probably put about 6000 miles per year on my taco (at 2000 miles right now after 4 months). So I figure changing it once per year should be good.

I drive for work, in sales. Two or three trips weekly from western Pa. into Ohio, the miles add up. It’s a free company vehicle to use at my disposal. That said, I baby it and do most of the maintenance.
