My only thoughts would be to quickly replace the Nx stuff. Possibly to look at a dvo service and fork service too.

Your negative chamber will thank you. That transfer port isn't that big and with that much butter, it will clog easily.

So one thing came to mind when doing the service, why do we dunk the both foam rings in 20wt oil if the damper-side takes 40cc of 5wt oil? Shouldn't we dunk it in 5wt?

Technically, you should dunk the damper side foam ring in 5wt. However, I did mine in 20wt since that's all I had. I actually have to redo my damper side since I used 20wt Gold (it was all I had at the time). What I should've done is put about 30cc's of 5wt insider the lowers of the damper side (Fox 34 Stepcast Fit4).

Apparently, the reason you use 5wt on the damper lower is that the damper uses 5wt in the cartridge (Fit4 and Grip 2) and it bleeds oil out into the lower and absorbs oil from the lowers as well. The 20wt that I put in my lowers will eventually make it into the damper and mix with the lighter 5wt. I'm not sure how much I believe that crap but I figured I might as well follow the Fox service instructions to prevent any warranty issues.

That is the drawback of my Ride88 rack. It does take up bed space, but I still absolutely love it and it suits my particular everyday needs (I ride MTB more than camp). Love being able to roll up the bed cover, throw in the bike and go for a ride. It really is an amazing/functional set-up. I've been looking at it for quite awhile and knew I had to switch out from the hitch-style once I bought a truck. I have the lock kit as well, but it is pretty easy to remove if I need to utilize the bed.
I also have the Saris Superclamp hitch rack (that I used on my SUV). Love that too, but it extends too far out for everyday use, in my opinion. I can throw that one on when I need to utilize the bed, but I think I'm going to sell it instead.

This all makes sense. Do you add 3cc of 20wt to the air chamber? I'm honestly surprised to never find any left in there when I service things. Maybe it should be something we add every 3-6 months.

Yes, I add a few cc's of oil to the air chamber. I don't want to add too much since they act as volume spacers. I clean the top of the air piston of all the butter they put on as well to increase the size of the positive chamber. I've also found that when I open Fox forks, they are virtually dry (have a fraction of the recommended oil in the lowers). I'm not sure why this is. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks it's because they want their forks to weigh lighter when put on the scale at a bike shop.

After I initially do the service, I don't service the forks until they start feeling harsh which is typically every other year since I end up switching my time between a few bikes. If the forks start feeling like I just had batting practice with Nolan Ryan using an aluminum bat, then it's time for a service.

I've noticed this too. Specially on the Air spring side with the 20wt oil. Perhaps it just eventually makes it's way out through the seal but this doesn't make much sense either since the oil is always at the bottom of the lowers. Hence why I like to flip my bike upside down fairly often to soak the foam rings.

this is interesting - maybe my foot is weird but I would have flipped the three I’ve tried in this list haha- I guess their “grip score” everyone is within a point or point and a half of each other.

Gooseberry is a full day ride (or enough of one you'd pry want off the bike when finished), Guacamole is a half day at best. Could hit Wire mesa in the afternoon that day since it's an easier ride or do it in the morning as a warm-up since all 3 of those trails are in the same area.

Dead Ringer to Hurricane Rim is another I'd classify as a "not full day" ride. If you used that day to wander into town off the Mesa, you could head over to "Suicidal Tendencies" which is a techy XC type ride and get that in the AM then do an afternoon party lap on DR/HR.

Also @guitarjamman , I second @ginseng27 in riding counterclockwise on Gooseberry. I've done it both ways and that seems to be the more fun way for me.

Park at windmill TH and then go bowls and ledges, to south rim or take the hidden canyon cutoff which is a good stint by itself. Both are really good. The south rim will def wear you out even downhill going counterclockwise. Hidden Canyon really shortens the ride and makes a nice bailout if the top half gets to you, but is interesting enough that you can "save face" and not admit to your buddies you're bailing vs the much longer way home.

Appreciate it! The group I am going with is pretty similar strength riders, but fitness levels may be all over the place - I'm assuming 10 miles per ride to start with and see how everyone is doing. I've been busting my ass this year to get mileage in and keep the legs in shape, but who knows lol

Not sure how the Northeast is, but S. Utah is deceiving. Gooseberry Mesa on Trailforks shows as pretty low elevation, but full of little shelves, rocky obstacles, and punchy little climbs so the effort vs elevation is way out of whack compared to what most people are used to "on up then down" type elevation profile rides.

It's also higher elevation and dry AF so hydration is something you'll want to be good about keeping up with.
