Do you use a device to deflate it, or just open the valves and let physics do its thing?

    Yeah.
I just open the valve. Folding the tent up pushes out whatever air is needed. They come with a little hand pump thingy for topping it off that can compress down as well. It's soft-sided, kind like a whoopie cushion with foam inside. I leave that in the tent as well. Check your internal dimensions, though, they may not have a size that works well for that particular tent.

Do you use it instead of the stock mattress pad or in addition?

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
I agree with the other poster about checking your internal dimensions too. I have a 50" Mt. Hood and there was no exped solution for me. The sizes were either too big or wildly too small. That's why I went the route of adding a topper to the original mattress.

Anyone using a CBI Bed Rack that is roof rack height? Their website claims it's 19" high, but I don't see how 19" gets you to roof rack height. I'm measuring that it should be closer to 21 or 22".

I would like to know what the actual height is from someone who's using it.

    Yeah.
They have pics on their site of the rack on a 3rd gen. It sure looks like it is roof rack height.

No experience with the bed height rack, but I like the shorter one I have from CBI.

I agree, which is why I was questioning the 19". When I pulled a tape, 19" put me at the top of the roof, so I can't see it lining up with a roof rack.

Just as an FYI. I checked out the CVT Mt. Hood today. The guy at the counter let me pull out the stick mattress and put my 4” air mattress in it. I was able to close it with ease. It was phenomenally easy to close. The newer latches are way better than the ones I have.

The only negative is the weight of the tent. For the medium size it’s over 200 lbs.

Bumping this CVT Mt. Washington question to bring it back to the front. I’m also curious how these tents do in high wind.

I’ve been eying this type of tent design to replace my 23Zero weekender.
These hybrids seems to setup much faster with only a couple poles and I’d feel a bit safer under the hard shell in hail. I’ve been in three hailstorms in my 23Zero and it’s done fine, but my nerves haven’t. Lol

Anyone in the market for a desert armor doggo RTT ramp? Bought one from a fellow TW member, (8ft) only to find out it won't work with my GFC due to how the ladder mounts.

$150 takes it, never been used by me or the previous owner except this past weekend when I put it on and figured out it wouldn't work. Got a little dirt on it but otherwise it's brand new. Don't mind shipping either, I can cover it with next day FedEx.

Snagged an inspired overland lightweight wedge since they’re on sale for $999 for the other half’s Rav. Stoked to have a 40+ mpg camping machine for when we don’t need the truck.

So I just took my IKamper X-cover- 2.0 apart to check the base plates. One of them is totally trashed. If anyone wants the tent material itself or the skirt items for zipping it up, let me know. Just pay shipping and $20 bucks for my gas and time to take it to somewhere to ship. In Corpus Christi, Texas if anyone is nearby and wants to just snag it. I'm going on to the hardtop model so no need to keep the remaining good parts. With that, I am going to keep the base for the mounting system and likely turn it into a fishing rack/padded tanning spot for the beach.

Has anyone found a way to neatly/easily have the layers fold when collapsing their RTT?

Mine always seem to balloon out as I'm folding, and I have to tuck everything manually before I fold it up.

Hi, former owner of a cbi roof rack height bed rack.
    Here is the rundown.

owned if for exactly one year before selling and swapping to the cbi bed bars.
With the roof rack height bed rack, you get a decent drop in MPGs and for me if made my gears hunt all the time, higher rpm’s, and slower pick up. So much better with a lower rack. With that said, I loved the versatility of it. Pics attached. FYI their bed rack height and roof rack height are TWO different racks.

i just watched this whole video.

the mattress topper is universal to most rtt.

then he added that bungie to help close the smittybilt tent and still needed to stuff things in to put the cover on. the way it closed with the bungie is how my tepui closes all the time.

i do think the cam strap thing might be useful compared to the velcro. but the velcro isn't really a big deal even with 2 pillows and sleeping bags in my tent. getting the cover on is only difficult if its cold outside and the cover is stiff and my hands hurt.

and the tepui has a pocket inside the tent for the rain fly poles. guess the smittybilt doesnt? or just put it on the side that doesn't flip up?

the floor mat for the ladder is kind of nifty. i might grab one for my tent.
