I have an CBI aluminum front bumper with a winch and have found that combo to be too much for my stock SR5 suspension. After 6 months of feeling too squishy I'm getting the OME kit installed next week.

You probably already have your solution sorted out judging by the date of the OP.

However, for people wondering this same question I am looking for a little more front end protection after a hit and run in a parking lot that destroyed my stock beauty bumper. These are some rough guidelines for minimal front bumpers:

    Aluminum - 45lbs
    https://greenlaneoffroad.com/16-tacoma/tacoma-stump-aluminum-winch-bumper

    Steel - 100lbs
    https://dv8offroad.com/products/tacoma-winch-ready-front-bumper-fbtt1-05

Of course the additional weight of a winch can be significant. Safe travels!

Love my aluminum stump bumper, running 2887 OME springs.

Buddy has identical truck with stock suspension, running same bumper and 10k pound winch. Heard no complaints from him.

Very nice build! I see you went for the sliders as well.

How do you like the fitment and integration with the TRD skid plate, is there much of a gap between skid and bumper?

Thank you sir! Yes I did, love my sliders. Can be used as a step too.

There is a bit of a gap but IMO it looks just fine, not once I thought it looked bad.

Not the best pics, but looks just fine to me.

Sweet memories there! Thanks for visuals

I've got the bumper and sliders on order now. Remaining hopeful to squeeze both a hidden lower grill light bar and synthetic winch in behind.

Safe wheeling out on the best coast!

I know this is an old thread but I havent been able to find a solid answer via search.

So Im picking up a rear metal bumper for my truck. Guessing the weight is 80lbs or so.

I am about to change my suspension to 5100’s. More than likely stock height. Will I have to upgrade my leaf springs/bump stops?

    Here’s the bumper for reference:

Unless you are adding a canopy/bed rack/RTT then you are gonna be just fine. Remember, you are removing rear bumper which weights like 20 pounds maybe? So really you are only adding 60 or so pounds.

Ahh ok cool. I figured that. Tried to compare it to the equivalent of keeping 1 large bag of dog food back there permanently lol.

The Tacoma is a mall princess and completely incapable of hauling grocery’s or towing a baby carriage
