Yeah assumed that from watching videos. Where I ride in New England, I don't have a ton of major hill climbs to do (outside of going north into the mountains, biggest climb I can find is roughly 300'). I can get 10-12 miles here with about 1,200 to 1,600 feet of elevation; but it's all death by 1,000 cuts where it adds up over the course of a ride. Some nasty punches but if you can hold some decent momentum, it keeps you from having to chug the whole way up.

I would say Gooseberry is the closest thing to Northeast riding in the West. Up down up down all on a sort of slick rock.

Edit: Watch for the heat. Their lows in the summer months are like 90 degrees F which only happens at sunset and sunrise. I've gone twice in late-Sept and early-October and it was perfect.

On another note thats not cycling specific, any of you guys run Fox Suspension on your Tacomas? Leaning towards a set of 2.5 non resi's up front and 2.0 with resi's in the rear. I'm only going to do a minor lift and part of me thinking its overkill and just sticking to 2.0's all around would make more sense.

I'm running Fox 2.0's on my F250 and absolutely love them. My truck only sees road driving, although some of the roads in the city I'd consider urban off roading, and I drag a camper around during the summer. The truck alone weighs around 8k lbs and they do a hell of a job keeping the truck in line.

Im literally considering the exact same setup/options.

One thing that puts me off about the 2.0 is the seals are on top instead of on the bottom, which in my head says are worse for water/dirt ingress. Also the collars for adjustment are on the bottom, making them harder to adjust? No idea though.

I've only ever used coil overs with the adjusters on the bottom and found them pretty easy to adjust. I'm just in the camp of spending a little more and not having to do things twice.

Kind of - they do abide by them, but there will be a string of cars that dont stop on red. Same can be said for smaller intersections without lights, everyone treats it as a yield and just kind of noses there way on through.

My 2018 TRD Pro came with Fox's and I like them. When it's time to replace, I'm thinking of Fox 2.5 Performance all around. I have Kings on my other truck.

    Yeah.
Same here on my Pro. Not sure I could leave my truck up on stands waiting for a rebuild, so will likely do a swap and have the old ones rebuilt for the next swap.

I'm in the same boat. The stock TRD Pro Fox suspension is actually pretty good!

I agree, even though I don’t camp as much as I’d like to, my main focus is MTB. I like the under the bike storage for the purpose of camping. But had I known about the RIDE88 when I purchased I may have went for it. Looks like a quality system for sure, better than any I’ve seen since I was looking in recent years.

This is what I was planning to do as well. And then I traded the truck in for a station wagon… :anonymous:

They put a lot of emphasis on concavity. I tend to agree to a point. It certainly helps, and I like the feeling on my foot sinking into the pedal, but modern flats with good tall grub screws have plenty of grip with a good shoe. I actually tend to reduce grip some by adding in some spacers, shorter screws, or the smoother screws (depending on the pedal) around the sides of the pedal to allow for a little foot adjustment while on them.
I've had quite a few of those pedals on the list, but the Tenets are one of the best feeling so far, don't know about reliability yet. I've been impressed with Oneups reliability and value, and DMRs are grip kings but my feet don't like them for some reason, Chromags are excellent all around but heavy, I want to like Deity but they've been super unreliable for me, PNW look great but haven't put any mileage on them yet, the Hope F20 were not grippy at all new ones sound a lot better, Raceface were grippy as hell but unreliable, Spanks were good but nothing great.

Damn, that's a great deal for anyone looking for a DH wheel. Still, not sure I'd run Hydras on a big DH rig. I guess if you're a big guy racing these would be killer.
