yeah they are everywhere around here and Pasadena. Little green ones and they fly around in huge flocks and take up residence in local trees making a racket

she's really upset, apparently it was a baby one. Dex isn't winning any points with my wife lately lol.

yeah I told her it sucks but it's basically what any dog or especially an outdoor cat would do, given the chance.

It would have been devoured by my tuxedo cat in about 3 minutes. She wouldn't have seen anything.

Might wanna teach the wife how to get stuff out of a dogs mouth for a more urgent scenario in the future though, it's a good thing to know and you have to put away the fear of reaching in there and opening their jaw or grabbing the snout.

yeah it's not easy to do with him, the hard part is catching him lol. I had to pull an avocado pit out of his mouth he found yesterday, he started digging a hole in the yard and found the pit buried a good 6" in the dirt. Probably pissed off whichever squirrel had stashed it away

Her dog lives outside, idk why the cat was in there, but it didn't make it out. There was like 2 feet of snow in there too so it took a couple trips out to find where he stashed it.

Last time I went out there were a couple a dead mice scattered around.

I'm just surprised he hasn't caught a squirrel yet with how many we have in our yard. Big oak tree in the neighbor's yard that hangs entirely over ours, which is why we usually find birds eggs and nests and stuff falling out of it. It's the official orgy spot for all our squirrels

Sounds similar to the parrots in SF https://www.kqed.org/news/11185731/where-did-the-wild-parrots-of-san-francisco-come-from

Actually that article talks about the Pasadena parrots too
    """
There are a number of theories. A commonly held belief is that the parrots were released by a woman who was having a psychotic break and subsequently burned down the pet store where they were housed. This is partially true. A pet store did burn down in Pasadena, but the woman was an employee of sound mind simply trying to save the birds. The parrots in San Francisco most likely weren't released from the fire in Pasadena.

yeah between them and all the peacocks we get here in the spring you'd think this was Australia or something

apparently rich people brought peacocks over in the early 20th or late 19th century and the same thing happened, they escaped and populated the area. Now they're a protected species, you can't fuck with them (not that you'd want to, the males are uber aggressive)
