    Hello Folks.

I think I feel my shocks topping out when going over speed bumps/patholes a bit too fast. Its like a “thud” and feels like I’m running out of downtravel.

Running 2887 OME coils and nitrocharger softvalved shocks. 2” lift

Been driving like this for about a year, it’s not a huge deal but I don’t think it should do that.

Does anyone have any ideas what’s happening here? It’s my first lifted 4x4 so I’m still learning about all this.

    @JoeCOVA any ideas?

    TIA

Looks like your lower shock bushing needs to be replaced which would be why you are hearing the noise.

How can you tell from the pics that it needs to be replaced?

FWIW, it has been doing that since it was new.

You were saying that the distance between bottom mounting bolt and top hat should be 21”?

It appears oily -- if oil is leaking from the seals, the shock no es bueno, it's time to be replaced.

For specific Fox and King shocks yes. We would need to know shock lengths on those Bilsteins to know where it's sitting in its overall travel. We're still speculating this "thud" is from the shocks.

    Thanks for reply.

These are actually OME soft valved nitro chargers. I’ll try to find the shock length right now.

    Here is the part number:

Removed some stuff, added some stuff.
Time for some remote resies bud. Toss some dobbies in the front with the dual speed compression adjusters and call it a day

Reason I didn't chime in earlier is bc we don't have info on Bilstein shocks. This may be helpful if you can get that info

Ok, so next would be to find out where they are taking those measurements. Make sure you are measuring the same way they are. If you are, you can see you are topped out.

Hmmm. But my question is, if this lift kit was designed to work on a 3rd gen taco, why am I feeling this “thud”?

I didn’t piece this kit together, well except for rear leafs. They are dobinsons.
