Eldora's fun for sure. Being down in the Springs it's still over 2 hours, but could be worth it. We need a resort in the Collegiates haha.

im not sure i would say echo mountain is in the collegiates. its not too far south of idaho springs.

i haven't looked into echo in awhile since the last couple posts, but i thought like 10-12 years ago it was just a park mountain, like all jumps and rails and stuff. then it shut down and was skiier only? guess it reopened to everyone?

 

That was a Coor's Family Member pet project and pretty sure it closed again

 

as far as i know, its still open. my work did an event there with the chill foundation. all i know is its just a small mountain. never actually been there

honestly the traffic this year has been insane. Makes me not even want to go unless the snow is good enough to justify the 4+ hours in traffic on the way home.

 

$49 and a “nice truck man” will take mine as a replacement

 

to that point, i was thinking about getting a group to go in on a ski house next year. Would yall be interested?

 

i sleep in my car but the 4hr drive back on sundays are still dreadful enough to make me want to goose it and destroy that subaru or suburban that thinks they are more important than everyone else and making everything slower and more dangerous by cutting in and out of traffic.

 

ive got a friend that lives in silverthorne so ive been staying there on sundays and then driving home monday mornings. We were going to start looking at places in the next couple months and try and find something to fit like 10 ish people. Ive done a shared house before and it was like $100 a month and was awesome

sounds like the wave that hit in mid 90's - when we decided skiing was great on weekdays and sucked on weekends. It did not take long for that to change to skiing, and I70 traffic sucked every day of the week. Lift tickets were $15 to Breck when I learned to ski. Today's prices are crazy and teaching kids to ski even with the deals offered is stupid robbery.

 

Traffic was awesome during covid.. unfortunately, snow was mediocre. Prices arent getting cheaper any time soon. $150-200 per day for Friends and Family discounted passes is a tough sell for out of state nonpass holders.

Oh dont forget the classic “ikon and epic passes are ruining the mountain” debate

Seriously. I don’t ever remember it being this bad and I’ve spent plenty of time in traffic here throughout the years. Even going the 24 way from the Springs and through Blue River into Breck has stop-and-go traffic in Blue River all the way to Breck. Have never seen that before this season.

 

My buddy (who doesn’t have a pass) rode WP this past weekend for $240… wut.
