But if those parts are worth more individually than they are when bolted to the truck...

That's a tough realization when your vehicle is worth more as parts than a whole.

Company tax auditors are taking up residence in the empty space next to my studio at work for the week, happens every year but I swear it feels like the last time was just a couple months ago. 2022 went by quiiiiick

it always feels that way, I feel like one day they're going to be like "you guys are paying this much $$$$$$$$ every year to have this huge space that only one person occupies??" and I'm gonna get put in a closet somewhere

I didn't know about the adjuster issue but I wonder if it affects my fork. It's maxxed. I actually contacted suntour and was told there was no spring available for my fork so I went down the path of asking about preload. Might have to ask a buddy to machine a spacer lol

I only mean certain specific parts.

A good LEER or ARE topper can sell for $1500. Is a truck worth $1500 less when you remove the topper?

Same for armor, racks, aftermarket wheels, coilovers... maybe upgraded diffs if you've got easy access to OE parts.

I wouldn't go much deeper than that. Diminishing returns.

on the other hand, giving up one truck can save how many others that might have been taken off the road too?

Parting out a truck is a selfless and honorable act and pick-n-pull yards are humanity at its best.

I feel like you both just somehow fetishized recycling into some weird automotive altruism.

real talk, do you guys get the "donor" label put on your driver's licenses or are you afraid that means you'll go in for a broken arm and end up auctioned off piece by piece on the black market
