One of the worst ways to market IMO. My boss was lazy and made me put crap under the wipers on cars a few times in the past. I hate the feeling of violating each and every car in the parking lot just so the store might make a couple extra sales. It sucks when you put a flyer down, turn around and see the owner looking at you. Each time I hoped they would complain so I could explain that I hate the task and would gladly take back the flyer and give a phone number to make a complaint. But nobody had the balls to say anything. so there was always A moment of awkwardness and shame as they remove the flyer and get in their car.
When I'm told to do that stuff now, I just secretly clock off and go pretend to do it.

    COPS?
Drug testing? Last time I checked marijuana is ILLEGAL. Why are you complaining?! IT'S THE LAW, OBEY IT! You can't stop smoking weed long enough to take and pass a drug test? Guess what it's a part of life. Deal with it! Grow up

Same goes for the Cops comment. Sure there are some Dick Cops but they are there for good reasons and you should respect them. Don't break the law and they won't give you any trouble. Novel concept I know.

Just thought of another one while walking down the hall at work.

When you say "hello" or "good morning" to someone to be nice (like I typically do in the hallway at work) and the person looks back at you, makes eye contact, but then looks away quickly and doesn't say a word back. There are some weirdos who work in my office.

I try to smile and give off a positive vibe, you never know if someone might be having a bad day and that simple "good morning" and a smile might make them feel better.

Drug testing is a biggest pet peeve?
As Colonel Klink would say, "Veeeerrry interesting."

Mine is people who choose to use cell phones dangerously while driving. Sitting at the light with their heads down texting away when the light is green or worse, while driving, totally oblivious to the world or traffic around them.

For some reason, a big pet peeve of mine is people that drink out of bottles, straws, etc. from the side of their mouth. Something about it just looks retarded...

Cool that you do this too.

I try to smile a lot just because it keeps me in a good mood. Its generates positive energy like you said.
When I am out and about I like to see how many smiles I get back.
I do not discriminate. Even the toughest dudes or older folks will smile back.
Teenagers, as self absorbed as they can be, will even smile back.
I'd stake my average as 8 of 10 smile back. Of course this is Vermont, not a big city, but I do when I travel too.
Like you said, a family member could be sick or dying, their spouse has left them, they got fired, chewed out by the boss, anything.
I cannot tell you how someone smiling at me has turned my day around.

Personally if i'm having a bad day I don't want to talk to people or them talk to me. Especially if all they want to say 'hello' or 'morning' just for the sake of saying it to hear themselves talk. Yep, I heard you come in the building and I saw you walk past my office. You know I'm here and I know you're here, we don't need to bring repetitious banter into this. I'm better at working out my bad day myself, but again that's just me.

Guess I just found one of my peeves. Maybe I'm just one of those weirdos you speak of :D
