Overland Torque Tune (OTT) by Overland Tailor

I had the KD Max “light”. I currently have the OTT “medium/spicy”.

So the more aggressive OTT yielded ~3mpg better all variables held constant.

 

How is gear hunting at 65-70 mph and up long mountain climbs? I’m in Colorado Springs. Did Adam in Denver hook you up?

 

Gear hunting still exists at high altitude going up grades with the overdrive gears (5 and 6). My solution is to put it in 4th when going up/down grades. Problem solved. Yes Adam hooked it up.

 

Would you say it helps reduce the amount of natural gear hunting for typical highway driving? 12 hour trip through Texas recently had my truck not sure what gear to be in doing 70mph on mostly flat interstate.

 

Oh yea - 1000% better. It will make a world of a difference driving in Texas type terrain and normal highway driving. I am talking about Rocky Mountain level grades that take you up 5000 feet within a pretty short distance. Driving around Denver and the smaller hills along the front range is a much better experience compared to the stock tune (or the KD tune for that matter).

• With stock... the truck downshifted sometimes to 3rd or 4th just to get up a little hill. Completely unacceptable and made be regret buying the truck.
  
• With the KD... I had odd, seemingly unnecessary shifting when just driving on a flat road. BETTER but you could tell the tune just wasn't well refined.
  
• With the OTT I finally feel like the truck is "normal"... and drives like any other automatic I have ever owned (and I have owned a lot of them).

Again - KUDOS to the OTT team for really taking the time to refine this tune! Being someone who has tuned Honda s2000s a fair amount over the years, I can really tell time and care was put in by the OTT team to make for a great driving experience. Easily the best bang for buck upgrade one can spend on a 3rd gen Tacoma.

I have a couple questions about the OTT tune.

Can it include an ECU change to better charge an AGM battery?
I plan on regearing before end of year (4.88 on stock sport) but want to get the tune beforehand. What will that affect?

 

AGM settings are available, w/ no upcharge or update charge to change it later.

The AGM settings will raise the charging voltage if that's what you're curious about. The gear/tire size specific files have specific transmission tuning and setting changes for the gears/tire size run. It's a unique shift schedule that is specific to the gears installed in the diffs.

 

Will I be able to get the tune prior to changing gears?

 

100%. Coordinate with your tuner and they'll get you updated, or if you have purchased direct from OTT, shoot us an email and we'll get you updated files.

Will the tune need to be tweaked after I install the LCE header? 2020 2.7

 

It wont need to be, but we could get more out of it with a custom tune.
