    Hello,

New to the forum and looking to buy a Tacoma in the coming weeks. Does anybody here know of anyone/garages in the Union Beach area of NJ that is trustworthy and decent who could have a look at the truck before I buy it? I am driving far to buy it and the people I trust are close to where I live.

    Thank you

How far are you willing to travel?
I think @PennSilverTaco is a little over an hour away.
He has a mechanic he uses a lot and talks highly of him.

Thanks a lot for the recommendations. Think it depends how far theyre willing to let me travel. Dont think an hour is too far for piece of mind as long as theyre cool with it. The frame looks good I checked it over with my inexperienced eyes.

Thanks Rancid Taco - is that where you take your Tacoma? They are trustworthy and good value? Really appreciate it. Would you suggest calling and explaining or just asking for them to look the truck over?

    Thanks so much everyone.

Yes I do bring my truck there for service. They treated my frame several years ago. I would call and see what they say.

Newbie here…based on my recent experience …if it’s high mileage…you want to know if the timing chain cover seal has been replaced, rear leaf springs, and what is the service history of the transmission.
And the most important item …frame rust which is easy to confirm yourself. Also check for seepage around the output shaft where the driveshaft meets the transmission.

sign up for a Toyota account and plug the vin in…see it’s service history.

not sure how they prevent you from plugging in a vin…I plugged mine in and got a lot of information on warranty work.
