Well I guess the Leafs are all in, those are some big trades.

I still can't spin the Bolts trade into a good deal. Sure, I like the player, but he had one good season and he's worth five picks? Plus he's RFA, there's a significant risk he asks for more than they can pay if he has a good playoffs.

Rangers are all in too but it's all firepower. No grit there.

I do like the NJ move but I'm not sure it's enough with the trades made by those around them.

Boston made a cap move. Not much more to say about that one. It doesn't make then much better but, then again, they look rock solid to start with.

….aaaaand Canes fans watching all the trades going on wishing we were in the news. Maybe a last minute big trade like for Pacioretty last year. Maybe nothing at all. I would be fine if we still had Pacy had he not torn his Achilles again.

Maybe we get Nick Schmaltz from Arizona, I’d be happy with that at this point.

If Pens can get on a roll and control the play, sometimes they look good. Other times, they run out of steam and give up the lead. To some degree I wonder if that's a different game if Vasi is in net there. Either way, I'll take the win but I don't read too much into it.

Personally, I think the Pens should have been sellers. Now, with this 2 game win streak they are back to being buyers. What they don't need is a rental. In years past we have traded all our high draft picks for rentals and now the cupboard is just about bare, as far as young talent goes. If they make a wild card playoff position the battle to the Cup is extremely uphill. The grind on the old guys will likely show quickly. Let's see how they do tonight.

I agree. I keep hearing Jakob Chychrun linked here. And that might make sense since he would not be a rental. I just don't know what assets we have, especially since Yotes supposedly have a massive asking price for him. I would take him though, depending on the deal. But in all reality, the division alone is so tough, let alone some of the other contenders and I just don't think the Pens have enough to make a serious run. So if they could sell Dumo, Zuck etc and get something for next year, that wouldn't be terrible. Especially since it seems most of the contenders are trying to load up and the returns are pretty decent right now. A few of the returns were actually ridiculous. So I would be at least exploring that, if I were the Pens.

The Pens have to get past Boston or Carolina in the first round. I just can't see them winning those matchups. They should stay put realistically unless they firmly believe one piece drastically changes their odds.

I saw that on Twitter. I don't understand 1) why they would him, with that big extension and 2) how it would even be possible. I think they could hide him on IR until playoffs but going into next year with his 8m hit, I have no clue why they woukd want that. He's not worth that, I'm sorry. I know he's from near by and that's cool and everything but that just seems like a no-go, if I am Hextall/Pens.

Looks like Kane to NYR is basically a done deal. Crazy. Pens waived McGinn and Friedman.

Luke Schenn to Toronto for a ham sandwich

He wanted to stay and end his career in Van , I really hope there was at least a discussion about re-signing him here for next season after Toronto gets knocked out in the first round again

Canes finally made a trade wheeee!
We got Jesse Puljujari from the Oilers.
5 goals for this season with them. We needed pp scoring, what are we doing.:notsure:

Oilers fans seem to like the guy for his big smile. And seems he’s a hard worker on defense. But I don’t get it. Canes aren’t stupid though they must see something I don’t. He’s played with Aho before, both Fins.

I’ve read we were looking for a left handed defenseman, maybe Gotsbehere. Still want Nick Schmaltz for goals. Rob Arizona for both. :fingerscrossed:

'Pool-Party' (aka, the Buffalo King) was somewhat of a fan favorite in Oil Country. But mostly for his personality. His on ice contributions have been minimal, for a couple years now..

I wish him well. Not very sad to see him go.

The latest rumors now have the Pens after Boeser. One of the possible trade candidates is Marcus Pettersen. Pettersen has really been playing well, probably the best defensive defenseman the Pens have.

Ya. I'd rather it be him than Miller. I know his defensive play is not as good as Miller though. But it's some firepower and a reasonable contract. Losing Pettersen or POJ would be tough. I'm thinking ahead that Dumo likely gone through a deal now or maybe not re-signing. So if that's the case, just hoping they can find a reasonable replacement.

Dumo is probably playing well enough for a team to be interested. I would rather keep Smith than P.O. myself. Both are young and offensive minded.

Ya, he's been good the last couple games. I think we could shop him if needed. But if they feel like we have a chance to make a run this year, they might not want to do that now and just let him walk after the year. I still don't have enough of an opinion of Smith yet. He seems good but is he an every-night guy in the line-up? POJ has come around, for me. I like him. I wouldn't be heart-broken to lose him but I do like him. And Petterson I do like. He's very solid defensively and we need a guy like that. Again, it's probably not the end of the world if he gets moved but our D line-up is just odd. I'd love to just make the move for Chychrun (but probably not at the high asking price.) But getting Boeser is nice because we have some flexibility to move guys around and start getting some scoring out of the 3rd line (whether it be him there or moving around and trying other guys, Zucker etc.)

Quick getting moved to Columbus. That sucks for him, but I get it. He's been almost unplayable this year and the Kings are a good team that needs solid goaltending. Making a run with it 100% on Copley isn't ideal and if JQ looks like he is nowhere close to his old form, then I understand why they would make that move. I'm sure JQ will call it a career at the end of the year. He was 1 of my favs, so sucks to see it unfold this way.
