Battery help

My battery is now about 6 years old and it just feels like its going out soon, I have aftermarket led headlights and taillights on a 2002 trd pro first gen. I was wanting to upgrade to the biggest and nicest batteries possible. any suggestions?

 

Check out Dakota lithium batteries. Not cheap, but they do make a drop in replacement for your group size. Pretty awesome that you wouldnt even need a dual set up to run way more than you have, with just one of these.

 

6 years is pretty good for any battery.

Why do you think you need 'bigger'?

 

At $1600.00 I guess that is expensive.

I can buy 6 of my normal Deka 9A24F replacing every 2 yours and come out ahead

If I had an extra $1600.00 which is $1100.00 more then I paid for my Truck I would give one a Try.

My Luck within a week it would explode if I was lucky it would take both me and the truck.

Group 27 will fit fine plenty of juce.

 

I buy interstate batteries and just exchange them every two years at Costco for free

 

They don't test the batteries you bring back?

 

My Costco could give two hoots. They just go pull one off the shelf and don’t even look at it. They check when I bought it but that’s about it

 

Probably the one some one just returned!

 

On my second Interstate battery. First one was 12 years old when it kicked the bucket. Way beyond what it was rated for. Only about $150. If I was going to upgrade to something else I would get an Optima.

 

I had the worst luck with Costco batts. Didn't matter if it was in the tacoma, camry or even a mitsubishi - they always leaked. I've sworn to never buy their batts again. I have had an Interstate Megatron II in the tacoma before. That one lasted quite a bit of time with no issues. Costco Interstate batts just don't do well in my vehicles

Currently am still going strong with one of the last Northstar branded AGMs (2019 group buy #9).

 

I like the Group 27 X2 AGM.

 

But you can just keep doing that forever? Doesn't the replacement battery carry the original warranty period? That's how autozone and those guys do it.

I agree though area the Costco ones do suck. But new is always good

the timer resets with the new battery
