I get it, and the truck you have is always easier to keep…

i’ve blow up two rear diffs in 100k miles. Whats kept me from going from factory 3.73s to 4.10s or 4.30s is the $2000 for the parts and then another $2000 for lockers. Plus assembly, shipping, and cores. To me $4-5k aint worth it for a couple teeth. Leave a stock truck “stock” and it’ll live its best life :anonymous:

you should already have factory 4.10s so going 4.30s doesnt even really gain you a whole tooth. If you had a 3rd gen v6, and you had the factory 3.91s, and 4.10s would be basically the same, 4.30s would be barely deeper. So its a very expensive rabbit hole.

From what i have been told, so long as the vehicle is used within in its home state and it sits for 2/3rds or more of each day, meaning you work at least 8hrs with it parked in the same spot, there is nothing they can do about you using a historic tagged vehicle for commuting

Gotten to the point, for better or worse, I can adjust my springs in about an hour. It’s a shame I have to take the wheels off to do it. Just not quite enough room with them on. The LCA bushing didn’t break loose from the bolt so I ordered a replacement for it.

After my experiment with the King shocks, I gotta find the spring seat height so my shocks don’t top out and have the strange rebound effect.

I ran my Landcruiser & 4runner with historic plates, never a issue. It was nice, instead of $180something every 2 years for the registration it was only $51 every 2 years. And as mentioned no emissions.

It was a hard decision because of the paycut I took, it's not easy walking away from good money. But I'm happier now then I ever was. I just turned 49 and as you get older you realize that money isn't everything and life is short.

I ran to Waynesboro PA this morning to buy this live edge vanity top. It's the same dimensions as my vanity in my master bathroom. I busted him down to $200. I'm gonna lightly sand it then a coat of fresh stain. Copper sinks and new bronze faucets.

The Historic tag were always meant for Sunday drives, car shows or the occasional putt around the neighborhood. It used to be that trucks had to be 25 years old and cars were 20 years and you had to have a primary vehicle registered to you for daily usage. omalley changed the requirements to 20 years old across the board and no primary vehicle required. A few years ago there was a big push to require that you had a vehicle with regular plates on it for daily usage before you could register another vehicle with historic plates. There was, for a while, a 'street rod' plate. I haven't seen any of those in a long time.

What was the issue with not being able to test the T4R? Just not driven enough miles? I am seriously considering slapping on the historic tags on my runner this time around.

Speaking of which, I got old crusty up and running again. I finished up the modified F250 shock mounts and got them burned onto the frame today. I was just going to tack everything then take it somewhere to get burned in since my MIG is only running on 120V at the moment. I put in a spool of flux core and tacked it in, then said to hell with it- just got for it, I would feel better about being more self sufficient if I got them melted in by myself, so that's what I did. The welds are strong, good penetration, just ugly to look at.

I just went for a quick drive to get a pizza for dinner but everything felt good.

Someone told me it costs more to insure a car if you tag it historic, but not sure how true that is.

edit: found it, only applies to vehicles over 10,000lbs in MD, but some other states require it

Looks good man! Md still has Street Rod plates. The vehicle has to be 20years or older and altered. I had them on my big block Vega race car and more recently my 70 elcamino.

My concern would be insurance coverage. Get into an accident 100 miles from home on a Tuesday, will insurance play games that your “historic” vehicle was used improperly?

But I tend to be paranoid.
    How’s the commute though?
