You bring up a good point, totally forgot they even FI'd the lil CRF110.... which is TINY. the XR150L with fuel injection would 100% be dooable but im sure it was a cost thing, no way would base price of the XR150L be 3k if it was FI unfortunately.

    I'm gonna need one
It'd be a perfect camping bike. You could even run up to the store if need be.
I'd imagine it'd be right at 4K along with the Grom, Trail, Monkey, etc

Her old bike has been the perfect camping bike for us. I was thinking more for her to hit the trails vs like a TTR or something...

Even the CRF110 has been FI since 2019!

you know its to keep the costs low and not change any tooling on the assembly line. Surely its a bike thats been around in other countries and they’re just now bringing it to America, unchanged, to maximize profits

Im actually surprised it met emissions standards with the carb tbh, thats the reason why they changed to FI on the 110/125 etc.

We have a gas station about 2 miles from me that has non-ethanol fuel, so I won't have to worry about gumming up the carb.

    dreams in californian....

I dont mind carbs, That stated, my real desire for FI is reliable running in all conditions. I ride from sealevel to 10kft from 100*f ambient to just above freezing.

I have had carbed bikes in the past and with proper jetting they do well, but at the extremes they will always have issues... its 2023, give me FI damnit it makes life so much nicer. /rant haha

You hit the nail right on the head about parts. I've had the Buell in my avatar since it came out in 1995. Just had to have the forks gone over due to a leaking seal. 2 fork seals set me back more than the labor to rebuild the forks. They're very proprietary and the shop couldn't find them anywhere. I brought them along in to work, I work for a hydraulic shop, and our parts manager couldn't even find a crossover that will fit.

Add to that the fact that Erik Buell has nothing to do with the new company.

Man I wanna do a trip like this on my bike so badly...it is a supersport but I've had riding days of 6-8 hours on it before so I imagine I could manage it.

Gorgeous views and bike my friend

Do it seriously, north of the golden gate all the way to where I hit the coast in orgeon (~50mi north of coos bay) was by far some of the most scenic riding I have ever done. If you do head up or down the coast, take the "lost coast route" up in the eureka area. I did ~300mi per day to give me time to stop and view the sights and cruise it.

Did you camp along the way? Or stay in hotels? That's really the only limiting factor for me, besides time off work. Can't really carry much on my S1000RR, so i'd have to make do with what clothes I can fit into a backpack.

Was thinking I'd try a shorter trip just up the 1 along the coast, see how that goes, then do the whole pacific coast later on when i can coordinate it with work.

I refuse to commit such blasphemy on my fine piece of German engineering

As much as I'd love more storage, a trip like that would really be my only use for all those bags, so idk if I could justify the expense lol.

yeah makes perfect sense haha. camping would probably be doable in the summer months but definitely not at the time you did it. Can't imagine it was too hard to find places to stay?

Granted, I did just go camping nearby San Diego 2 weekends ago and a moto camper rolled in for one night to crash. Snow was on the ground, so with enough will there's always a way I guess
