Lowering my truck?! Last thing I wanna do, haha!

I don’t top out often, but it happens a few times a month or so. What kind of damage are we talking about here?

Aftermarket UCA's and extended "mid travel" shocks can help edge out a bit more travel... but ultimately, they have the same limitations.

+1 for Archive yellow bumps and U bolt flip kit. I've hit bumps pretty hard as recently as last weekend on a trail and they feel great. Frankly you can barely even feel them make contact which is fantastic. I have no reason to search for alternatives, they just work.

Suspension is a lot of give and take, fine tuning, and working within limitations (especially IFS). There's always something limiting you somewhere; be it the shock itself (which is your case currently), cv axles, or sometimes uca on a big bodied shock getting bound up on droop, things like that.

In your case, if you're only topping out occasionally, I bet you could drop your truck 1/4 or 1/2 inch and it will alleviate the issue on road. As far as off road goes, there's a lot of variables at play and you may still run into issues.

Ive had Timbrens in all 4 corners of my last 2 Tacomas and have been very happy with them. I have a 2/1 lift/level and have no difference in ride when the truck is unloaded. I do feel them when Im plowing snow or hauling heavy items in the bed, but that’s to be expected.

When my rear pair became severely corroded from NE winter road treatments , Timbren cust service sent me a brand new set at no charge- no questions asked , as they have a lifetime warranty. At a few hundred dollars a pair, that absolutely made them great to deal with in my book.

This is exactly why I lifted 2 inches. I knew I'd be replacing the leaf pack and shackle hangers, and to avoid a ton of rake I had to bring up the front end. Would have preferred maybe an inch up front, half inch in the rear,

Yup. Exactly. Feel that pain. I have been looking at rear leaf springs and I am leaning towards an icon rxt and that will lead me to lift at least 2” up front to get similar rake as what I have stock.

Has anyone used the AccuTune Offroad U-Bolt Flip & Bump Stop Kit? I'm looking at those or the Archive Garage Stealths with the Timbren front kit. I'm running Bilstein 5100s 886 heavy duty 2.5" lift and Dakar Heavy Duty Leaf Pack.

If you look through this thread you'll see a large portion of us highly recommended them. Archive Garage is absolutely fantastic. Do it

Like others posted earlier, I installed GM springs too. Cost me $110 including the Wheeler’s flip kit, and took only about an hour. I’ve ran it hard a few times since install and it’s riding super smooth in the rear now. I genuinely think all the other companies are overcharging everyone unless you jumped to hydros!

I took the picture before I cut the extra shanks on the u-bolts, but here’s how mine came out:

I think I’m not searching correctly. What can you tell me about this? It’s a modification of GM bump stops? Do you have a link that shows what needs to be done to do this? Be if it’s of this over the archive garage or summo springs?

You will need to order GM bump stops Part # 15712438, I just ordered from Amazon. I also got a u-bolt flip from wheeler’s because the plate on top of the leaf pack add’s about 3/4” compared to stock.
Here is the link for that: I removed the old bump, and installed the flip kit first, then I jacked up one side of my axle until the suspension was near full compression. At this point you need to place the GM bump where you want it to strike the leaf plate, I preferred centered on the bolt in the center of the leaf packs. I marked bottom of the bump stop strike plate (mounted on the frame) and then measured to match up since you will be drilling from the top (about 1 1/4” in and 2 3/4” aft).

Note: Please measure multiple times, as you will have one shot at drilling this right. I lowered the jack compressing the suspension, and began drilling from the top side, starting with a smaller bit and stepping up a few times until finishing with a 3/8 inch bit. Took a few minutes so just take it slow and step up bits as needed.

After the hole is drilled install the bump stop shank into the hole, and thread the nut on up top. You can use shims/washers between the bump and the frame if you needed more height on the bump. Trim the excess u bolt shanks with an angle grinder and you’re good to go.

Sounds like a lot, but it really was very simple with the only sketchy part being drilling the frame, which if you measure correctly it shouldn’t be a big deal. For how much I saved it was absolutely worth the extra 30 minutes of work to me. I drive my truck pretty hard and noted it’s insanely better in the rear (couldn’t tell a difference between these and my buddy’s archive bump kit).

Here is the whole thread I went off of to get this idea and how to install it:

Long story short, you’re not modifying the bump stops, but really just drilling a hole in the bump stop strike plate and installing them there. The bumps will now strike the plate on top of your leaf pack with the flip kit.

So I took some measurements. Not the best pics but here they are.

    What do you think?

THIS!! I'm baffled why these companies don't make an improved leaf pack with minimal lift. I have no interest in raising my front end 2" just to match the rear if I want to upgrade leaf springs.

Did you hear back from Deaver? I'm going to contact them with the same question.

Great info on bumps in here, l'll be checking those out too.

Let us know what Deaver says. Im in the same boat. I don't really want to lift it as much as what the aftermarket leaf springs do, and I don't want to use a block.
