318k mile 3rd gen

Cool video, Toyota should look at it, good marketing.

 

This is cool, and good to see, but you can put tons of highway miles on almost anything, with proper maintenance. They’re like 10% the wear.

 

Looks like he uses it as a truck towing stuff etc. maybe not the easy commuter highway miles that you would initially think.

 

Pulling a dump trailer at or over capacity for a lot of those miles?

 

hmm i wonder if a 4cyl would have been more “reliable “?

Those dang car engines will never hold up!

 

Not to dismiss the real & rare issues that many frequently share here, but a 3rd Gen Taco w 300k+ mi represents what the majority of them are capable of.

Understandably, people are more likely to post their problems rather than durability milestones, but that doesn’t change the reality that with a sample size of almost two million sold, we already know that generally these are robust trucks that when well-maintained & not abused, will last a long time.

 

IT'S A MINIVAM ENGINE!

Just making sure we get it right, as other's egos would be crushed if their Truck engine wasn't revered enough.

 

I think there is a 4cyl 3rd gen that has more miles than that on it already. Seems like I saw it in one of the mileage threads here.

Is that the same as city driving?

 

I would say the transmission and rear end might argue its worse...

 

Towing a loaded trailer is far harder on the truck than city driving. But I'm guessing this guy is pretty gentile with it, not a lot of SENDIT in his mentality.

 

3 minute mark..."10k mile oil changes until 180k miles then every 5k"

Truck should've exploded in a black oil fireball at 120k miles according to this forum.

 

Why? Genuinely don’t understand. Transmissions shift less on the highway.
