TBD but swung by buddys trans shop and no codes and he's also thinking thats the case... going to limit using the PB for a while and run with simple is often the answer... thanks for the input everyone, will report back in due time to close this thread out.

pull wheels and drums, make e everything is still in place and working correctly. Lot of times something is amiss inside, or may need a good cleaning/adjustment.

Welp pretty sure it indeed was the simple issue... another warm day and cold night, left ebrake alone and pulled out. Tried the ebrake for the hell of it and could feel the resistance of ice on the handle and sure enough when I went to move it froze up and same errors.. eventually it freed itself but most definitely was the case of a frozen ebrake. Appreciate all the input above.

    Stock so far, lol!
Ditto on the stuck parking brake. I have had this issue with multiple Tacomas and a 4Runner. No cold weather issue for me. Once was after launching my boat and the other three times were after washing the truck and parking. Almost couldn't get it out of the garage as I had backed in. Dealership claimed they had never heard of this. The last time it happened i had them come to the house so they could see it for themselves. recommendation was to either drive it a bit and apply the brakes to "dry" them off or don't use the parking brake right after washing or boat ramp.

Mine is a manual, since day one I all ways have use the parking brake and leave it in neutral. I'm in Maine I plow with this truck so it sure gets wet and cold never had an issue with the parking brake. Use it or loose it, most people with automatics never use the parking brake and don't realize there is an issue until one day they do. Yes drum brakes are "self energizing" the forward rotation helps apply them (leading/ trailing shoe) not so in reverse.
