I agree with the former, but the latter, forget it…there will be a time when we all face that.

Be ready when it’s your turn.

I helped out once in HEAVY traffic offering assistance to help get a woman and her child to safety. The car was on its side from a mega impact and the cars wizzing by not giving a shit tripped me out. They were freaking out. If it wasn’t for me and the other individual, it probably would not have been good for them IF they tried to get out themselves. No one was offering assistance. I don’t like to be the one “who doesn't give a shit.”

After fighting cancer and almost losing my life, I don’t spend a second thinking about myself when it comes to helping others.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Having to rescue the rescuer is a big reason that help is often politely denied. You might be better off loading some needed supplies in your truck and delivering them to the people making the runs. If you want to put yourself in a position to help, look for a local volunteer SAR team and get some training. Then show up with your certs and you can probably go to work.

I had to pull off the pavement into a gravel parking lot to go around a truck backing into a dock…does that count?

Now hold on! I never said anything about trying to play a hero.

However, I see no harm to anyone when we can fill our Taco beds with supplies and drive it to a safe location.

The local market’s entire roof collapsed in Crestline. :0( And they are just sending in the guard?? Not cool man.

No arguments from me about getting needed supplies to safe locations. Distribution from there becomes the issue, and there are many layers of considerations to think about. Over crowding access roads and local distribution points is just one of those. The National Guard is brought in because of logistical abilities. One five ton or dragon wagon can take the supplies in one trip that 20 Tacoma's could do. There is a lot more to it than that. Not saying you can't help, but there are reasons why things are done in a certain manner. I hope you can help, I think it's a great idea and it would be appreciated by those in need.

Had a great day up in the snow and ice at Ray’s Place about 2.5 hours north of Toronto with the TEC group. Great guys and some laughs winching and hitting trees.

Ended up going to Kilbourne Hole in NM for the first time yesterday. I only saw probably a fifth of the entire area. It was an awesome experience the size of it a lot larger than I expected. I wonder if anyone knows if there is an area where you can go down into the volcanic crater safely or if it’s even allowed.
