I fell down at work, got dizzy. Now my employer wants a sign off from my doctor, can’t really blame them. I’m just grateful I can get out of bed in the morning.

A couple of rear window decals...
@Tacoma Mike Got a mechanic question for you. My rear diff pinion nut came loose a couple of weeks ago. I sent it back to ECGS, and they fixed it for me even though the warranty had expired in December. My hats off to ECGS; they are an awesome company to work with.:hattip: I have both RTV gasket maker, and I also bought an OEM gasket.
My question is, when I put the 3rd back in, which should I use, i.e., a combination of the two, the OEM gasket with a bit of RTV on both sides to help it stay in place and to get a better seal or should I use just one or the other of the two?

The RTV I have: Permatex® Optimum Black RTV Silicone Gasket Maker, 3.35 OZ – Permatex
The gasket I have: 42181-60130 - Toyota Parts Deal

I'd just use the gasket, although Permatex black is very good.

    I wouldn't mix the two. :)

Always use the gasket if it came with it. They measure shit with the gasket in place.
I always used a “skim” on the gasket (both sides) because of the issues with weepers.
Even with the dam things torqued and would have issues. Not going to chance it. I skim
    almost everything..

It's been broken for two weeks, so I have plenty of time to order the OEM gasket. Last time I just used the RTV, but it eventually started leaking. So I thought the OEM gasket might be better, and the RTV would help hold it on the face of the housing.

Yea we had one that came back like 3 times. You would think the second time they would kinda look a little harder. Put a straight edge on it and there was a actual divot In the machine surface.
So sealant on both sides of the gasket and no more issues..

Road trip compatability. Everyone happy ESPECIALLY me.
The Tacoma did it at 22.67mpg. Not bad for 12 years old with 210,000 miles and big mud tires.

    Sandy is still smiling.

    I need a nap.
