Mine doesn't even work anymore for some reason. It doesn't stay in, it just pops back out. I tried using it to light a piece of paper to light a grill because both of my lighters quit working . Frustrating when you're on top of a mountain out in the woods and hungry for some hot dogs and beer.

Mine don't do that but the left one doesn't hold the cig lighter in there, it slides out all the time and the lighter won't stay pushed in when pushed in to light something.

My cigarette lighter has never worked since I bought the truck brand new. It gets lukewarm and that's about it.

The cigarette lighter and a piece of paper was the first thing I though of when my lighters gave out.

I even tried manually holding the cigarette lighter in place to get it to heat up...didn't work. But it charged my phone just fine

I eventually had to pull the grate and cover plate off the burner on the grill and use the spark of the lighter to ignite the propane. I wasn't going to give up on hot dogs and beer.

I now bring 3 lighters with me and a bunch of strike anywhere matches sealed in a ziplock bag.

Neither do I but it's nice to be able to charge my phone while my daughter has her DVD player plugged in. I'll tinker with it and report back.

I found that by twisting the socket (the part that slides out) clockwise as far as it would go while it's inserted fully, that it locks into place and doesn't pull out with the lighter or accessories. No idea why that makes a difference but it seems to be working.

Mine does it to but I thought it was because I kept my cell phone charger in there. My aux. port I keep my GPS connected to it. It drove me nuts when I went to use the lighter and it pops right out of the base HOT. I tried to replace the base in and just gave up, maybe I should take it to the sealer and have them replace it while it's still under warranty.

Reviving an old thread/post about "Cigarette Lighter"

    PROBLEM:
My cigarette lighter's internal metal housing does not come out but the problem that I was having was that the actual lighter itself would not stay plugged in.

It would just move freely inside the metal housing and would not stay in.

The lighter actually works because I tried it (by holding it in) but it just would not stay in and pop out, when ready, like it was designed to do.

    WHY?

Because for the longest time I used the lighter's plug for charging my iPhone (leaving the charger's plug in for a few years) and by doing so this forced/bent-out the two metal tab's (see picture) that are furthest down the metal housing.

Those two metal tabs that are furthest down the metal housing are what holds the actual lighter in place when heating up. Once it heats up the metal lighter is forced (pop's) out and ready.

    SOLUTION:
Use a thin long screw driver and gently force/move both of those metal tabs back in slightly so that the lighter will catch and hold when inserted.
Continue to mess with both metal tabs and insert the lighter after each adjustment, until it actually catches and works.

This worked for me and solved my problem.

Now I can use my lighter again. (by the way-why would Toyota insist on installing a 'cigarette-lighter' in vehicles in this day an age when people are trying to quit smoking, etc. and to add to it not even have an ash tray install anywhere in the truck?....WTF!
Though I guess it's a good thing to have? I look at it like having a gun-you may not need it all the time but believe me it sure comes in handy when you do or when the time calls for it!).

I knew for a fact that the lighter worked because my phone charger worked when using it and I even tried the actual lighter itself (as previously mentioned above) and it worked as well. So there was definitely no need to replace the fuse for it.
