They are still sketchy at best.
Always had me on high alert when I used it or walked by and the impact gun was going off lol.

No doubt, but way better than the ones quoted......that's what seriously injures people (along with over inflating tires). I've seen some crazy accident reports/photos from tire explosions. just insane!

Yeah, when I did mine, I basically removed them, took them to a shop and had them R&R the parts, then I replaced them. Best $60 of risk aversion spent.

I had a great consumer experience yesterday, and thought I would share it. I have had pickups with a cap my whole life, carpenter. Always needed a rack on top of the cap and have used Yakama products for years. My current truck has a Snugtop cap and a Yakama rack setup, sold and installed by the Snugtop dealer. The rig is over 4years old and there is a split in the plastic on one of the crossbars, happened the first year. Emailed Yakama’s service department the problem with a picture. They got back to me within 48 hours, gave them some more information, but can’t find my receipt. The guy got right back to me and said that a new set of crossbars,$200, is in route to me. Outstanding customer service!

    Good morning everybody, it’s Friday!

Rainy and really windy here today. High wind advisories, small craft warning, gale warning offshore. I’m sure the surfer dudes are having a good time at the beach.

o_O That doesn’t look sketchy at all!

Although I got the better spring remover, it is still sketchy. Now the bigger springs don't fit. So I take the whole thing to a shop that removes, rebuilds and replaces the whole assembly.

    Happy Friday, crew!

    That's a nice rig!

A good buddy offered me to lend me his wall mounted unit. If I have to do many more then I will take him up on his offer.

I was ok-ish using my junk until I saw how much the draw bolts were deflecting. The DeWalt battery impact was getting a work out. It turns out that after all of this work, the 3rd gen OR springs are a bit too much for the 4runner, I have an inch of reverse rake so I need to find some different front springs. The original "tall" springs from my 'runner are shot and I had these springs laying around. Dimensionally that are very close, the OR springs have a much higher spring rate and it showed when compressing them to go together. The stock Toyota springs are still available, but close to $300/set. I might look at some ARB 880's unless I find some 2nd/3rd gen Taco stock struts that someone is tossing, I will harvest the springs from that.

Are the 2nd gen springs the same as 5th gen 4Runner?

    Afternoon all :hattip:

The strong winds that were behind the squall line are strong , 60 to 70mph gusts are so much fun driving in . My 3400lbs Tacoma feels like a sub compact car being pushed all over the road

Gorgeous car, but the Shelby AC 427 is absolutely my dream car. The one I linked to isn't a Shelby, but it is the actual AC car, and it does have a nice engine :D

I would prefer the Cobra between the 2 as well, but the link is for new scratch custom built Shelby like. Brand new and updated. I just found out about this when I sent your link to a coworker.

I can't find any info about the spring rates, but fundamentally/dimensionally they could work.

Winter has shown up, a tiny-wennie bit. The frozen rain/sleet-ish falling from the heavens turned into fat, heavy snow flakes that turned into frozen slush on the windshields and lawns because it WAS above freezing. Now it's right at the freezing mark. Maybe it will be a repeat of last year when we got a good wind/snow storm on St Patty's weekend.
