Dex never does but he does bark, so probably has a little mutt in him. I guess that's the key if you want one that doesn't howl lol.

I showed him this video yesterday and then thought I may have fucked myself by doing so, like what if it triggers the howling in him...but he squirmed away like it annoyed him so

That's power factor with the cap installed, I currently have it wired with the cap between the brown and black wires (I did so because their wiring diagram shows it as such plus most diagrams I can find online show the run cap between the 2 windings) other than the one leg of the cap nothing is connected to brown.

The chinesium wiring diagram shows L going to blue with N going to black(which has the other cap lead) I found a discrepancy with most diagrams online that show blue from the motor going to neutral instead and power going to either black or brown (depending on fan rotation)

I currently have it set up and running with N going to blue, it's been running for over an hour now... yesterday in the previous wiring set up (L to blue) it ran for 1.5hrs before shutting down so I don't want to interrupt my testing now. If it shuts down in the next half hour I'll remove the cap and check power factor again

So if im reading that diagram correctly the blue wire is not the common but instead one of the field windings?

that's good lol, the howling can be a lot, especially in the middle of the night lol

Molly is part beagle or something, she loves to howl at sirens which sucks because I live somewhat close to a hospital lol

It's best if you don't think of one as "common" since it's not DC. Blue and black are both "live". The cap is in series with the aux/out-of-phase winding which shunts/is parallel with the main winding.

    I'm a dummy

So theoretically my action of switching L and N from the incoming power made zero difference, it'll behave the same either way. So if this unit shuts down again (still running since my last post) more than likely there's a thermal overload built internal to the motor that's tripping
