Im surprised how small and relatively cheap that was…I’m used to the big chunky boxes. I should invest in one of those, I always thought they were a lot more pricey.

Likewise on both accounts. The one I got really is mind-blowing. I remember when something like this could barely charge a cell phone...

Mostly stock, just getting it to my liking, just happy to have had the taco and now my 4Runner.
Subbed for some great build info.

Indeed. Still trying to figure out the ideal way to mount it in the cargo area, probably won't have a perfect solution until @JDUB-Fabrication and I do 3rd row deletes.

You’ve been happy with that case? I know the Pelican brand makes a good product. I have a roof bin currently but don’t love the space it offers or the fact it’s up in the air. I think condensing to a bin in the back makes more sense. I do lose the space in back with a dog crate too though.

I am happy with it, but in 100% transparency it was sent to me at Pelican's expense for the sake of a review:
    https://www.atvrider.com/story/products/pelican-cooler-flashlight-cargo-box-products-review/

That said, if I didn't have it, I'd probably buy it or something like it. Super durable and can mount some things to the side if need be. While I'm working on figuring out how to permanently mount it in the GX's trunk area, I have my stuff in a super inexpensive Dewalt box from Home Depot and it does the job but feels nowhere near as sturdy/secure.

Definitely a sweet little gig you got there. They seem like a solid purchase for 269. Trail Recon has it for 159 so I’m guessing that’s a fake website lol.

Can't vouch for TrailRecon but can definitely vouch for the Pelican product. People also seem to love the Plano cases though they seem to have jumped up in price as of late (correct me if I'm wrong).

Got the GX out yesterday during the remnants of the storm. The Toyo A/T IIIs performed flawlessly in some slick conditions (snow, standing water, muddy unpaved roads). I also like that the Lightforces run in low-power DRL mode even when they're switched off for added visibility.

Aside from the lack of grunt (largely my own doing from the lift/bumper/tires), this thing impresses me every time I drive it.

Apple CarPlay coming soon! I never really appreciated how valuable it is until I spent a lot of time driving newer cars. CarPlay is pretty ubiquitous in new vehicles, and while I didn't even consider it as something I wanted when I bought my GX, I've really come to like it. Grom's VLine VL2 is a plug-and-play kit that brings wireless (or wired) CarPlay and Android Auto to the factory screen/interface. It retains the steering wheel controls, too. Looking forward to bringing the GX's tech into the modern age.

Going to be installing this the first time I have a free warm Saturday. Write-up and review hopefully coming soon!

Been debating the cheapo Amazon AA unit thats been making the rounds, the only thing really holding me back is the possibility of the trucks audio getting even worse lol. So is this just a supplement to the factory hardware rather than a new HU?

Not sure how it would get worse?
The Grom unit just gets added to the factory head unit and stashed behind the dashboard somewhere. Should look factory when everything is said and done.

That's what I was thinking too but that is one of the reports about it haha, I don't think I could deal with anything worse than oem. But this unit might be the ticket... do they make it for 3rd gen tacos?

    Yup!
    https://gromaudio.com/store/all-ten_.html

Totally get the hesitation... when I replaced the head unit in one of the 4th gen 4Runners I had, the quality just wasn't there (not to mention the HU repeatedly froze) so I sent it back. I'll report on how this works once I install it, hopefully over the next few weeks.

Funny story, I didn’t know what apple car play was when I bought my truck. The salesmen didn’t really know anything about Tacomas and he forgot to tell me that the vehicle I was buying has car play.

I pulled out of the dealership after signing all the paperwork and plugged my phone in with the USB cord I swapped over from my trade-in truck and I almost had a stroke when my phone showed up on the radio console lol. Best surprise ever.
