Here's a good demo on how to make clear ice on the cheap.

Picked this up tonight. Forgot I've had it before wanna find it just ok. It's $37 locally. I'd rather have EW BiB for $17.

I like the home made ice, mainly because of the shapes you can make, giving it the rustic look. I’ve yet to try this, as I just use a silicon mold for large squares, but at some point I’ll give it a try. I really don’t have space to try it right now with all freezers full of stuff. But some day!

And….sippin on some EHT tonight, my find a month or so ago. This second drink seems to have more to it than when I first opened it, which is a good thing to me.

Jim Beam was my dad's favorite. As hard as I try, I can't get in to anything made at their distillery. :(

I did however buy a bottle of Basil Hayden to keep by his photo. :drunk:

    Really? Booker's? Knob Creek 12, 15? Beam Single Barrel? Hardin's Creek/Jacob's Well?

I mean, if I have to ride or die with a distillery, it's Wild Turkey. But Beam is a close second. Very close.

Nothing I've tried from JB I've liked. Even if I didn't know it was JB.

My choice of distilleries: #1 Heaven Hill, VERY close #2 Buffalo Trace.

Round 2. Thoroughly impressed with the JD Bonded. Did not expect to like it as much as I do!

Anyone here build a bourbon barrel storage shelf before? I just watched a video, doesn’t look hard to do, just need a few tools to make it easier. Might be a spring project for me….just finding a bourbon barrel in New Mexico is the challenge. I may have to ask some of the distilleries and see what they say about selling them….

Check with Lowes or Home Depot garden dept. I'm pretty sure they sell barrels, but I'm not sure what they were used for initially, could have been wine verse bourbon.

yep - I have a wine barrel from the depot on my back porch as our dining table. The last few years they have had them in the spring, but just wine barrels. That may just have to be the way I go with this project.

I know Jack Daniels sells their barrels on the Square in Lynchburg. You should just plan a spring vacation to do the TN whiskey trail and bring a barrel home with you.

What does one look like? If it's what I'm thinking, my local Trader Joe's has one to store individual beer bottles for sale. It's a barrel with one side cut open and a shelf in the middle.

@PhoenixFire here is the video I watched. Seems straight forward. My dad or buddy down the street has the tools I would need.

Now, where I would keep this barrel…I have no idea. Perhaps in my office in the corner below my guitars. That would look pretty cool just not sure if it would fit in the area.

Okay, that's kind of what I was thinking. It doesn't look too difficult. Be sure to post up if/when you do!

I just happened to get two shirts from the BO a few days ago! Had someone from a BBQ board I’m on get them for me to give to my wife….as the owl is her spirit animal! :)
