They're the same cause they don't actually exist for the Tacoma, they were only ever for the runner and we just use em.

 

Do you think the sonoran bushings fit the same way?

Well, as you know I have a set of those.

 

The front suspension is "identical" so they should fit. I won't ever use them so if you want them they are yours.

 

The Sonoran bushings are actually sold for the 4Runner, so they'll fit just fine.

Also, I put OME on all four corners of mine and it felt really stiff and drove like shit - like I was always on rocky roads; I hated it. I say that only so that you don't get the same springs (and maybe not the same shocks) I did. I'd go for Billies and some pretty soft springs next time. My setup was:

suspension - front

• OME 90004 Nitrocharger Sport Shocks and 2881 Coil Springs [install]

suspension - rear

• OME 60028 Nitrocharger Sport Rear Shocks and 2890 Coil Springs [install]

For the LBJs, you can replace them with Taco LBJs if you also swap out the OTREs. Not necessary, but will make it so you have interchangeable parts with the Taco, should you ever get into a Frank/Igor/Red truck situation and need to keep one or the other running.

We did all poly. Was pretty cheap actually. The beefier links were not cheap though.

 

also would not recommend OME. They ride pretty stiff around town. I'm sure Ben will come to defend his beloved OME shock's honor but billies do better there for sure. They have a 4runner specific ones now too to be a bit smoother smoother than regular 5100s. Which is waht I put in the little truck. Which rides pretty good. Grants had 5100s all around and it rode nice. Same with my mom's truck I redid for her a while ago.

Yep still in Sheridan. Usually traveling for gigs so it's a nice spot to come home to. I still find it awesome and funny that my life in the photo/video world stemmed from this forum haha. I remember dabbling with camera stuff after an outing or two and it just snowballed from there.

I'm in the same boat. Maybe a camping trip or two up the mountain and some around town driving here and there. That Ferd looks like a good time though


Also glad to hear I'm not the only one with a wobbly 4Runner 90% sure my steering rack is toast, and I guess the rear end is just doomed to feel like sh*t.

 

The solution to the 3rd gen 4Runner rear suspension issues is to buy a 4th gen. No wiggle issues, and really it is the peak of 4Runner design when paired with the V8. 5th gens are gutless turds with lots of body roll.

 

I think its awesome haha cool your busy enough to be traveling a lot. That is super cool man.

 

Plus 5th gens are just too big.

 

So random thought/question and I've done no searching myself on.

Is it bad if the auto trans fluid doesn't get up to temp? Been curious about this as mine does not really.

 

I would say, if it looks right, and smell correct, you are not doing any harm to it.

 

I have no reasons to believe it's bad or doing anything. But I rarely get over 140º just driving around even to work. That cooler works really well. Plus obviously it's cold out. But even in summer it stays around 150.

 

Bypass the cooler and see what happens. If the sensor is going out then you won't be getting accurate readings on the hot side which is the important one.

 

IMO, 140° is not low. I typically see 120-140° during the winter.

To me it sounds like that external cooler is doing it job correctly. They are designed to allow the fluid to bypass the main part of the cooler when the temps are not high.

FWIW, 150-170° is normal summer time temps for me except for 4lo, prolonged steep situations. Then of course it is much higher.
