So the 07 Tacomas don’t all come with a tcs switch and the only to disable it completely is to unplug it and restart the truck. I’m trying to install a switch just for some convenience, I know it’s just a simple relay but I don’t like messing with electrical without a visual. Anyone know a good YouTube video of it? I can’t seem to find one.

There is no Traction Control (only Antilock Brakes) on most 05-08 trucks, VSC/Traction Control was an option but few trucks prior to 09 had it and those that did had a button to turn it off. On 09 and later VSC/Traction Control became standard.

Are you sure? because my friend’s 05 has a tcs button and I’ve seen tutorials for the same era 4runners as well how to disable it from the engine bay(08) with a ‘trac off’ light showing on the dash. I’ll go check mine though

Edit: my friends 05 taco is a sport so that might be why it has it, but I figured they’d both have tcs even though mine doesn’t have a button

Stability/traction control became available on Tacoma's as far back as around 01 but but it was a rare option to see and AFAIK all the ones that have it have a button to disable it.
I'd imagine 4Runners are close to the same since they use a nearly identical drivetrain.

The ones that had it prior to 09 also had the hydraulic brake booster that looks like the picture below, after 09 only the TRD OffRoad models had the hydraulic booster.
You would know if you had it, if the drive tires slip/spin on a traction control equipped vehicle the traction light would flash and engine power would be drastically reduced unless the system is disabled.

Okay thanks I just assumed my trac was weak, I never thought about it not lighting up on the dash because my last car didn’t do that lol

Side note, did the off-road ones pre 09 have the brake booster? Mine does but I don’t have the control box below it with the tcs wire, so ig you’re right about it not having tcs

Most have the vacuum booster which looks like the image below, prior to 09 only ones with Stabilty/Traction Control had the hydraulic booster pictured above and 09+ TRD OffRoad models also have the hydraulic booster.
