Yup, Star Wars episode IV. I was 8 when my brother took me to see that movie back in 77'.
I believe the following year I saw Close Encounters of the Third Kind at a drive thru.

The year that Star Wars hit the theater, I had just moved to California, and I was so broke I could not afford to go see it or I would have.

I remember I had spent my few dollars to go see Logan’s run at some second rate theater, and I thought it was a rather second rate adaptation of a second-rate book that I had read as a pre-teenager.

I ended up seeing Star Wars in the theater in 1989, at one of these reunion festival things were people dress up. It was a lot of fun, but I wasn’t as impressed by the movie too much.

The special effects were wonderful, but the plot was so pitifully juvenile I finally concluded that it was expected to be received by the public as campy.

Nowadays everybody wants to follow the science but back then they were telling Luke to use the mysterious force. Nobody was screaming, “Luke! Luke! use the science!”

I grew up reading science-fiction written by guys who put real science into all of it. I’m afraid the Star Wars series never bothered to acknowledge that issue.

How about when married couples had separate beds even on soap operas

When they were even shown at all.

    To think in 1977 I bought a 1976 leftover K20 4x4 loaded for around $6,000.00

Scary that some Pick up Trucks can price out for more then I paid for my Shop with the 10 + acres

Living in the country that seldom happened.

In those days mid sixties 20 cars in 10 hours on a busy day.
