I’ve never watched one of those work other than on tv until we were in Vermont several weeks back. The guy at the vrbo had a battery powered one and he plowed around the van so we could get out.

My wife bought me a big troybilt one years ago that I love using when we get a big snow. The first few years of having it I'd clear all my neighbors driveways too, just because I loved playing with it.

All that stuff is fun when it’s new, chainsaw, rototiller, power washer. Then the novelty wears off when the work starts, sure glad I have the stuff though.

So I wasn't paying attention while working on the snowblower today. I leaned over and put my palm on the hot exhaust. Then I tripped over my socket set and spilled them out of their correct order/places. I brought it inside later to re-organize when I had my reading glasses on. I came out in the kitchen because I knew my wife wouldn't want them to stay on the counter. They were gone and I asked where they went. She said she put them in the mud room and when I looked it was all closed up; so I asked if she put them all back in order for me and thanks if she had... She said; 'yeah I put them all back.' I brought them back in to look and that's when she said; 'they may not be in the correct order but I put them back.' Lol- everything was jammed in the wrong place. 3/8 drives in 1/4 section, metric mixed with SAE- she had know idea it's not just my OCD but rather that it makes working on something easier when everything's in order.

Probably a stupid question but I’ve never owned a set of chains. We are thinking we need a set in the transport van just in case. Are there good better best versions and where is the best place to get them. I’m leaving for the north again Friday night and will be finishing up in Vermont this time. And my weather says winter is still going on up there!

We get it I get accused of being quare about my stuff but it’s pretty handy when I’m not home and I can say look in a certain drawer and that’s where it is. And put it back there when you finish with it!!!

improperly installed chains can be super dangerous. if you do get some i would suggest doing a few practice runs of installing them and making sure that everything is snug.

I have never put any on for sure it never comes up here. Everything we have is 4x4 with good tires so we make out. But about twice a year there is a transport going north and the van does ok but it’s not my first choice of vehicles to make a run like that but you can’t get 50/60 animals in a 4Runner.
