Also trying to finish off this clearance purchase, PA has been dropping a bunch of labels and adding new, think I got this for 25. Not bad, it nothing special

 

I have yet to try ANY Templeton.

 

The rye is mostly MGP...they started distilling their own new make in 2018 but its not aged enough yet, so what they're selling these days is still mostly Indiana whiskey.

Usually I don’t try to trash talk a Colorado Whiskey…but this one is just…not good. A while back I cracked it open and declared it not aged long enough, with an overwhelming right in your face taste like Isopropyl alcohol. I tried it again tonight, and can safely say…it’s not just bad, it’s awful. Supposedly won a bunch of awards….ackkk.

 

Now…after trashing expensive Colorado 291 shit whiskey….Why would I feature $18 mellow corn with not my usual fine sporting pistol? Well… The PSA Dagger with 10 magazines is only $369, and I put 500 rounds through it this morning, and not one problem. So…I eschew 291, and rejoice in the Mellow Corn!

 

I've got a bottle of this from like 2018ish that I haven't opened. Maybe I can trade it for something else haha

Sipping on a little rare breed

 

Went to a local distillery today, Vara Winery and Distillery, who makes Taylor Garrett Whiskey. Had a flight of four of five of their whiskeys. From left to right - Whiskey, Rye Whiskey, Rum Rye, and Imperial Malt Whiskey. The Imperial Malt Whiskey was my favorite, with that Imperial Stout flavor profile coming in nicely on the finish. Really smooth to start, with a subtle sweetness. And, is a collab with the oldest brewery in Albuquerque. The Rye and Rum Rye were pretty good, with the Rum Rye better than the regular rye in my opinion. They also have a Sherry Cask Whiskey, but I didn’t have that in my flight. Would like to give that a try next go round. But enjoyed getting to taste these local spirits. They also make gin, rum and brandy - along with wine - which is what the wife was sipping.

 

It's pretty much like the bobber in your fuel tank. It'll let you know when you need to top it up!
