Correct me if I’m wrong don’t the 5100’s have multiple perch settings for the springs to sit on? Also, regardless of who makes the actual shock assembly, if you think TRD Engineering didn’t supply the specs and require them to fall into those specs, you’re just plain wrong. PS - Either way, having Bilstein *make* your TRD shocks is not a bad thing.

You are wrong, research it and you will see. Yes it's nice to have some 5100s, as I would rather have more settings to use, lifetime warranty and less expensive. I'm sure they had something to do with it but I seriously doubt they gave any specs for Bilstein to use.

I'm not sure what kind of research you want me to do or why exactly you think I'm wrong? I know for a fact the TRD lift was designed by the TRD Engineering team and that any outside manufacturer participating in the process was given specifications that the TRD-branded parts must adhere to. This is just how business works.

I've gone ahead and looked at the press release directly from Toyota on the TRD lift, however, and found the following wording...keep in mind that press releases tend to be well-crafted and thought out statements, and shouldn't include blatant lies...

"Best of all, this kit was designed and tested by TRD engineers" - Toyota

So anyway, long story short, I don't know how else I can prove to you that the TRD Lift is designed and tested by TRD engineering (without access to some internal documents), but I'm gonna bow out of this one...because there's no real way I can prove anything.

Wish I never saw this thread. I can feel the anxiety kicking in just seeing the replies. Here’s the honest reality. If you want a good lift for your Tacoma and don’t want to haggle with a service manager over warranty work then this is a great lift. Your average joe weekend warrior off-roader will have no issues. And like I have mentioned it has been flawless for me and I won’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I installed this kit over the weekend. Thanks to this forum, I was able to order just the shock and blocks for less than the Bilstein 5100. I instantly got a nasty growl and vibration from the front needle bearing. Good thing I had already ordered the ECGS bushing and tools. I was able to get the bushing done in about 2 hours. I love the way the truck looks and drives now!

You are correct it has tuned stickers. It's a good read.

Knocked it out in about 4hr total. Had a shop swap the springs for 75 dollars. Other than that, I did it all myself.

So where is the best place/cheapest place to buy the lift? Thinking about doing this once my rig finally gets delivered. By a quick search I saw $1400 at a few local dealers.

Looks good dude! I should’ve done the ECGS bushing while I had it apart. Doh.

Curious if anyone has installed something like the headstrong top plate spacers in conjunction with this? People do it all the time with 5100s, but just taking a pulse check before I do this as well. I want to fix the lean I’ve got going on that’s starting to drive me crazy. Thanks.

I don't see why that wouldn't work the same as the 5100s. Just go for it.

I did a 1/4 spacer on the drivers side, the front on the 5th perch. Worked for me.

2inch in the front? Can you take a dead on side shot? Im conflicted between 1inch front or 2inch front

Sweet setup all around. Which steps are those? Looking to ditch the OEM tubes, but I need something for my rugrats to climb up.
