Has anyone changed out the reverse light switch on the side of the transmission? It looks crazy hard to get to

It’s not that hard to get to, pretty easy to get a wrench on it and switch it out, unclip the sensor and loosen it.

I do have a 5 speed so the shifters get in the way. I see no way to get a wrench in there.

Are you by chance trying to change this switch from the Top??

About the only way the shifter will be in the way. Quite simple from the bottom.

I never tried from the top Icould understand that being difficult.

thank you for clarifying, I was assuming crakumskull was attempting to change the switch from underneath.

Change it from under the vehicle. Not from the top. 5 minute job.

I can only guess but that would be the only way the shifters could be in the way.

I would have never even given that a thought to try from the Top

Ok thanks. I figured it would be just as difficult from underneath. I'll give it a go. What size wrench?

Climb under vehicle, locate sensor, unplug sensor wire from clip. Take a visual of sensor hex/socket size and estimate in your head what size you think it is.
Grab said open end wrench or deep socket..( i.e. 17mm???)
If it's not correct size, keep trying until you find correct size.
Once you find correct wrench size, take a mental picture in your head so you start to familiarize yourself with bolt size. This will help iding hardware in the future.

Yup I'm a fool. I was looking at the wrong switch. The one I saw from there was on the transfer case. And it's 28mm BTW

Also, where did you come by the name Nevin? Just curious if it's the same one I know from a book series

Was big into wakeboarding in the early 2000's and always wore Team Swat Nevin gear. Just stuck when out on the lake.

Aren't you replacing your old switch? Just get a wrench that fits the new switch.
