Why? It's a lot more comfy and works fine in snow.

Most folks who have a truck don't really need one anyway, so the RL is great for hauling mulch or bags of soccer balls.

I am thinking about picking up one or two myself, but I am looking at the low mileage used side of the house, and the manual transmission. I have a auto now, but looking at the low mileage manual models in my area, the prices aren't too terrible, and in a few more months I think they will be even better when some of the high prices used models shake themselves off the lots.

I am going to do the same thing when the 4 runner new gen gets close, pick up a low mileage used 5th gen.

What I find amusing about this thread is it flies in the face of the folks who 6-months ago were saying the Tacoma's day in the Sun was done and sales would never recover.

I think a lot of Ranger customers are waiting for their new gen truck as well. The interior is dated (for Ford at least), and the bodystyle has been around a long time (as the European spec). Of course the Ranger Raptor will being stupid money on release. I couldn’t imagine how much a factory spec TRD Pro would go for if it had nearly 400 HP.

Agree, my friend has a 2020, and I get to drive it infrequently. Each time I drive it, I am impressed by the comfort and intelligent design of that vehicle for everyday use. If I was able to make rational decisions, I would have picked a RL over any other medium truck for everyday use.

Toyota is also building a ton of Tacoma's (prioritized production, according to my brother, who works at a Toyota plant). Is it really amazing that people are buying what's being shipped to dealers? One of my local dealers has twice as many Tacoma's listed (33) as anything else. Sixteen Camry's and 16 Highlanders are listed.

They could be selling more Camry's and RAV4's too, if they could make more.

I'm going to guess it's because you can actually buy a Tacoma now without paying a market adjustment right now. Only so many idiots out there that will overpay.

No one is snapping anything up. The Feb sales are on par with what Tacoma roughly sells every year. To get to 250k units per year which is what they sell in a good year they have to sell about 20-21k per month. They sold less than that in Feb, but Feb is missing some days compared to a normal month.

Ranger issues are related to them prioritizing Mavericks I believe. Toyota could sell this Tacoma for another 5 years and nothing would change in terms of sales. Just like F150 in the full size market, people will simply buy it because it's a Tacoma.

I think the Ranger and Bronco are produced on the same assembly line, so l am sure they are prioritizing Bronco's over Ranger's.

    Just getting started.
Market adjustment scams and production follies are coming home to roost for Ford. Last year I was originally looking for an F-150 (life-long Ford family with multiple Mustangs, a 1st gen Fusion [yuck], Focus, multiple Explorers, etc...), but every dealer in North Texas had them marked up sky high due to "market adjustment." I wasn't willing to spend $60-70K for basic full-size truck so I started looking at other options. The Tacoma, while not a full-size, won out because of its versatility, reliability, great after-market and community support, and above all it was available immediately without the ridiculous mark-ups (of course the manual transmission was just icing on the cake). Availability and mark-ups are killing a lot of sales numbers. I don't doubt that if Ford actually ramped up production of the Ranger and Bronco they'd be selling out and the Tacoma's numbers would see a slump.
