General rule of TW: Dont use "help" in the thread title unless you're stranded or stuck on the side of the road somewhere.

Id be more worried about the rear main leak than I would any rust in those pics.

Also possible rear output seal leak on the T-case?

Any truck you buy should get a coat of Fluid Film to slow any future rust down

Those front LCA cam bolts definitely are gonna have to be cut if you ever needed to do an alignment.

I wouldnt bother with that truck unless the deal was REAL good.

I wouldn't expect a rear main seal at only 65k, but certainly looks like it in the pics

To be fair OP is looking at a much older truck (2nd gen). No idea where his is from, but yours would look way worse than that one in the pics if you lived in the salt belt :bananadead:

All depends on WHERE geographically youre looking. For Northern Michigan? That truck looks damn near new!

True, but I also would not be willing to pay 30 something k (after tax and finance) for a 2nd gen salt truck.

That’s a tough one, the frame doesn’t look “too bad” but there is quite a bit on the other components. Big thing would be to check in the boxed section of the frame, especially up front.

But thats my point. Its not a salt truck.. Or at least driven very little during the winter if it is from the north.

Im not saying its a good deal, but if price wasnt an issue Id buy that

Fair enough. You sir, are a braver man than I.

I would not. If I was in that price bracket and that was the only offering, I'd rearrange my budget and buy from the new lot.

If I couldn't do that, I'd buy a cash beater and start saving. Price to repairs ratio makes this one the worst possible choice for me, in a weird way.

@Rock Lobster but youre only guessing at the "repairs" needed...thats kind of an odd way to look at it. Mines a 2012, with 120K on it and looks like that, and I would have zero issues with driving it to Alaska tomorrow! ANYone in the northern salty road states will have corrosion issues, no matter what and if thats up here in the Northlands, thats a GOOD looking frame and underside. I know eveyone from the desert areas are like, noooooooo...wayyyyyy to much rust, but its subjective to where you live and drive and what you have the capability of buying. So OP, for a northern truck, it does look good, but do your due diligence in inspecting the areas people have mentioned in the frame areas especially.

Northern or southern, pooled fluids very rarely means a cheap repair. I'd raise an eyebrow over the cam bolts that need to be cut and replaced, but the oil stains say don't even bother with the rust.

Y'all might have a go at it. It's your money, have fun spending it as you please. Youd probably even get a good truck out of it.

If it's my money, nope. Nope nope nope.

    This and that...
My cam bolts looked way better than those and were still seized and got replaced. Seems to be an issue with 2nd gens. That price is a tough pill to swallow though. Times have changed.
