    Evening Folks. :hattip:
I do the car wash after winter to get the salt crud off but the rest of the time I try to work washing the car when it rains. Only problem is sometimes the rain stops before it gets rinsed and I end up getting the hose out to finish the job :annoyed:such is life.

John Wesley Powell predicted water shortages back in 1893 when he observed that the American West was “piling up a heritage of conflict and litigation over water rights, for there is not sufficient water to supply these lands.”

Must not have been very observant. Welcome from Texas, Craig @Unit59 ! Got pics? They are easier to read! And that cooler won't just fill itself.

And now the Colorado doesn't get to the Pacific...

How soon will it be before the Mississippi no longer meets the Gulf?

In an odd twist of paradigms, I read about a proposal killed in California which would have refilled the doomed Salton Sea with "fresh" sea water. I visited the Salton Sea back in 1976 and was stunned at how much saltier it was than the ocean, given the constant pumping of agricultural run off (which contains salt from the Colorado River) coupled with evaporation, I cannot fathom how salty that water is now. Adding water pumped in from the Pacific or from the Gulf of California would gradually dilute the saltiness, but I seriously doubt it could ever be brought back to the saline levels of the mid-1970s.

The Great Salt Lake is so low that they expect it to be completely dry in five years... and there's so much arsenic in the bottom that they are worried about the prevailing winds blowing it over the million plus people east of the lake bed.

How about "The Great I-80 Pipeline" to fill "The Great Salt Lake"?

    Speaking of all that water....

Any of you with inground pools have any experience with robotic cleaners? At all?

I haven't heard anyone seriously talking about anything like that. Water's more valuable than oil, but desalination and pipes seem like they're low on the priority list from everything I hear.

Yes. I've had Hayward and Zodiac M8. They are both very efficient, cleaning the entire pool from scratch in a couple hours. The Zodiac cleans higher on the sides, climbing all the way to the surface. They will both clog up with certain large types of debris on occasion, requiring partial disassembly to clear the clog. This operation takes considerably longer for the Hayward, which also clogs more frequently. Both will require rebuild parts after a few years continuous use. Bottom line, my money is on Zodiac M8. The M6 is cheaper, but I haven't had any experience with that model.

Here in Tucson - the local car washes (commercial automated type) funnel all of their water into closed/catch/recycle systems. After getting a filter job and various treatments (think of giant water softener) - it goes right back to work in the wash system. Much more economical than continuously using city water and dumping it in the sanitary sewer. I was amazed when told of this by a fellow we know, who works for the "Mr Carwash" company - they use some renewal water to keep their system topped up - but its nothing like what I expected.

Good morning fellow Porchatonians!! Light coating of snow overnight here in northeast PA - didn't stick to the driveway.

Welcome @Unit59 Craig! We live north of Scranton by the Lackawanna State Park. There is also a pretty active Keystone State thread if you're so inclined - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/keystone-state-thread.10467/page-4185 I agree. SPring is coming - already seeing birds that normally aren't here until April and the willows are starting to bud out.

I thought California has a long coastline which would be very accessible to the water body; if the filtration/sanitation treatment could "renew" the sanitary type of water, then the state should possibly filtered the water surrounding its coastline in solving the water problem it proclaimed (?). :notsure:

Skin doc yesterday for a yearly. She always finds a few spots to zap. SOP. Wife drove. Nice, I could get used to this. Then it was lunch out. Like a day off. Oh wait, we're retired.
